Has anyone tried the iv drips for energy?
Drips: Has anyone tried the iv drips... - Fibromyalgia Acti...
Drips
I haven't tried them. They contain vitamin b complex and other vitamins they hydrate you. I know they are expensive. I can buy a litre of water add a pinch of salt take some vit b add a kale smoothie and probably get the same effect for a fraction of the cost. I think if you can afford them why not, they will give you a boost for a few hours. xx
taking IV infusions when there is no clear clinical need could compromise you later down the line when you do need it and access is difficult.
well it's something I wouldn't have personally but they are very popular these days if you can afford them. Also with any IV product there is a risk of introducing infection. Saying that though the clinics who offer such products are administered by trained professionals and the products are prescribed by a trained professional.
indeed they are supposed to be nurses that do it but there have been some questions about claims. My other half is a Type 1 diabetic and I know how she is a phlebotomists nightmare.
I believe the medical professionals i.e. NHS do not recommend it but personal choice. If I was in my 20s with a hangover then I would have probably considered it
I'm an RGN I specialized in cardiology. I am to unwell to work at the moment but I looked into this and going to work in the private sector so I could work my own hours. I trashed the idea, I'm to much of a socialist to work in the private sector. I do believe they are quite good for a hangover. I don't get the chance of a hangover these days as my medication doesn't mix with alcohol. Doh
Private medicine as opposed to NHS is one discussion but this is trivialising it and turning into sales. At least in private medicine their is a presumption of clinical need and professionalism.
Also normalising could make people do stupid things like mainlining fruit juice like someone did in China and very nearly died.
Yes I agree. It's good we have rigorous guideline here in the UK for IV administration. IV administration can only be performed by someone who is already a professional then has extra training. That includes the NHS and the private sectors. I personally don't feel people need these types of IV lets face it, it's a money spin.
Could I ask how you intend to administer an I.v?? Are you qualified to canulate yourself??please be careful as you could badly blow a vein and bleed internally
No it’s a qualified nurse , good grief I’d have it in my eye .
My friend who suffers from Lupus and Fibro had these when her daughter was getting married.
She lives in the US and although they were expensive, not as expensive as they obviously are in the UK.
She purchased and had them administered every week for six weeks in the lead up to the wedding and for One week thereafter.
Allegedly, they worked quite well for her. She was more energised, less, sleepy, less moody, less everything!
However, immediately she stopped them (on her doctor's orders - the same doctor who'd suggested them in the first place to enable her to cope and fully participate during the wedding period) she became like Rip Van Winkle and was laid up in bed, completely drained of every ounce of energy, a comprehensive CFS flare that knocked her out for almost three weeks! She basically only woke up to eat, drink and toilet.
She doesn't regret her decision, the videos, photos and memories of the event are testament to how useful the drips were but... even she doesn't recommend them for ongoing continuous use.
In the words of her doctor, You can Trick your body some of the time but you can't trick your body into behaving ALL of the time. This statement always brings to mind the Eddie Murphy movie when the miracle slimming potion stopped working.
You do you and let us know how you get on.
Now I know for sure that if I really needed this boost for a special event or occasion (like my friend) I'd be willing to consider and hopefully afford to pay for it. Experimentation is brave and can really assist others too.
All the best and gently hugs.
Ok on this one I had to leave a msg. I to suffer from fibro but I also have 79 other active conditions as my team of Dr.s say she is a very complex case. I have PA I will be on b12 shots every 2 wks for the rest of my life. I have Permanente brain damage due to how long it took them to catch it. Everyone assumes that when you have blood work done they run it for everything well they don't and we end up suffering for it. Please look at your lab work or ask Dr. if B12 test has been done don't take no for an answer. Look up b12 def symptoms it's quite shocking DO NOT HAVE A HANGING IV DONE it is a waste of money besides taking the risk these ppl should be arrested, they are pretending to be Dr.s LOOKUP PAS or B12 Def and go from there PLEASE !!!! DO NOT HAVE IV done out of some shop. Thanks I think I snapped on this one sorry
