Hi shaz66

I have experienced labyrinthitis which I think is possibly another name for vertigo as they are identical symptoms sickness,dizzyness,headache-- a vile feeling,so unpleasant and yes you feel like you are dying.

I used to get this quite frequently but whatever the trigger was (and I never got to the bottom of it) must have stopped.

At the time I was given a stemetil injection which relieved the immediate symptoms in a few hours and I took stemetil tablets for a few days following to keep it under control. It actually took a couple of weeks for it to clear fully but I was only getting a wobbly moment every now and then.

There may be something else that your doc can recommend for you,but there was another post on here yesterday about vertigo, seems to be quite a common occurence with fibro sufferers, you may wish to take a look and see if theres any info to help you on there.

Take care and I hope you feel better soon.

Hi, I have been going through the same things for months . Last night was the worst. I am also falling over with the dizziness. I saw a Doctor last week and he his not sure if it is something in my inner ear or my neck causing the problem which is horrendous. I am now waiting for an appointment to see a vascular surgeon to rule the worse of the possibilities first. My problem is I have ear problem plus neck problems and they don't know which is causing me to go dizzy and fall.

I feel sorry your suffering with this do you have medication for it ? Until they get to the bottom of mine I have not been offered anything. I do hope it is a one off for you and it go's back into remission. xx

Hi shaz66 maybe you could ask to try some other pill if the ones that your GP is not working for you. I have noticed you have not locked your post. You may like to do this to stop it going on to the world wide web. I do hope you can get something to help you. It really is an awful thing to suffer with xx

I have bppv which is a form of vertigo ...and is horrible when it flares up. I can barely move at times because the slightest movement and the whole room spins

Hope you feel better soon xxx

Stugeron travel pills work a treat and I found better than Stemetil.

No the doctor is not sure what it is so I am guessing he doesn't want to give me something that may make things worse ?

If you look it up it is available on prescription and is used to treat vertigo and inner ear problems causing nausea and dizziness as well as travel sickness.

Yes shaz66, I get bouts of vertigo. When this first happened last year after a flu like virus it was so bad it made me vomit several times. I couldn't stand up or lay on my right side or move without being sick. It was awful. I saw my GP who didn't consider the spinning sensation he just wanted to treat the sickness with medication. After seeing him several times he eventually referred me to ENT and 3 months later I got an appointment with ent consultant who said it was labrynthitis and did the Epley manoeuvre on me. By the time Id got to this appointment the vertigo was practically gone but it returned 2 months later only this time not so bad and lasted for a shorter length of time. Ive had it several times since but (touch wood) no where near as bad as the first time. If I get a bout now I try to stay as still as possible and focus my eyes on something to try to stop the spinning. I have lost hearing in my right ear since and tinnitus is worse than it used to be which I can put up with but that vertigo is horrendous and you have my sympathy. Hope your vertigo goes away soon. hugs Joolz.x
