She's a big cutie. A very good listener too. Love her to bits. She is a Maine Coon, and a very dainty one x

I just adore Maine Coone cats - they have such a big personality.

She is beautiful

Catriona keeps me company too, especially when the OH is working abroad, like now. She can read me like a book, and has me wound round her paw of course. I was medically retired 6 years ago and life is very quite now x

She is gorgeous they say how highly intelligent that are. We are having to look after KGB brother in laws Bengali as he is in hospital critically ill. She is a one man pussand it will be fun tomorrow having to catch her to take her to the vets.x

That sounds like bribery by prawns to me. They are amazing cats Bengals. Very striking. They look highly strung though. Good luck with the capture x

We are already bankcrupt in paying put for tuna as it is the only thing we can entice her with to eat her tablets. Yes she is rather neurotic but she is a little stray that turned up on brother in laws doorstep one day. When I saw her I kept on teasing him saying she was an Ocelot escaped from the local zoo which is just down the road from his house. It was only when the poor thing got run over and he rushed her to the vets that the vet who happened to have Bengali's herself told him what breed she was. She was getting friendly to my OH until he had the temerity to catch her to get her to the vets, she wasn't impressed. He had chunks out of his hand and was scratched all over when she got there and was being examined and purred over by everyone you would think butter would not melt in her mouth. The receptionist even bought her a catnip mouse as a toy which she promptly tried to drown in her water dish.x

Lol. Brilliant. Who says cats don't have personalities. That is proof. About the tuna - I found an acceptable (by her majesty) alternative. I now feed her on Encore tuna with shrimp. Comes in a small tin, a one serving thing, but I always had to chuck out the other half tin of tuna is it had turned brown. I ask you. I wouldn't have let my children get away with that kind of behaviour ha ha. I now buy the tins in boxes of 18. Two at a time, brought to the door of course. Saves me lifting 😺

Thats a good idea as I know OH would not serve her majesty anything he would not eat himself. We bought ours with our online shop and had a long discussion on which make would be best for her and whether to buy it in spring water or brine, the rest of the shop took us half the time it took to order her tuna and cat litter. Made OH mad that when he went to Click and Collect they did not have the cat litter we had eventually chosen so he ended up having to go into the store after all to chose some more. I hope she appreciates this attention to detail. He came back from feeding her tonight and said she has really taken to the tuna, she isn't daft is she.x

Hi Sorebones - update on the Katie situation OH managed to get her to the vets okay with a bit of a fight but not as bad as last week. Unfortunately, she is still losing a bit of weight so he is going to feed her more to see whether that makes a difference, I've told him about the tuna and shrimp. I had told him to start putting a little bit of food in the carrying case but he had forgotten to do that but had left it out for her to get used to it. You guessed she must have thought it was a covered little tray so he has had to wash it all out again. The rash has not cleared up so she will still have to have tablets and back again next week. I can see the bankcruptcy courts looming. The vet could not hear her heart properly as she kept on purring so loudly typical Bengali.x

Poor wee sweetheart. And poor you. It is such a financial burden. Vets and meds are not cheap. Daft as it sounds she's probably pining for her daddy. They will shut down if they feel rejected. It will take a while for her to realise she has a new family. They do tend to be a one person animal. Can you get her own dishes, litter tray etc? Might make her feel a bit more secure. Catriona is just spoilt. But she loves Dreamies. Cat treats. Try them. If she eats them her weight will go up (if she has them often per day). Just a dozen at a time. Also "sticks". Cat treats in the form of sticks. Give them broken up into small bits.

So pleased the vet didn't tell you to shampoo the cat with whatever lol. I would have demanded a photo of that ha ha ha.

Here's hoping the tablets work this time x

You and me both about the bathing as I had the horrible feeling that is what she was going to say. I would think any video of Katie being bathed would be hilarious my OH is not the fastest mover on the block and I reckon she would run rings around him especially as she would be very wet at the time.

Thanks for the hints about what to buy her. I said to OH when he just got back I think she is pining. He has now started going up twice a day and spending more time than he can really afford but he thinks the extended amount of time with someone in the house might make her relax more.

We are keeping her in her own home as she has a friend a few doors up, another Bengali and unfortunately we live on a main road so even though we have a large garden we are worried she might get out over the garage and there is lovely but very yappy dog next door that might frighten her. I would hate anything to happen to her as brother in law does not even know she is ill as he is so ill himself we don't want to worry him so we keep on pretending that she is fine, eating well and healthy. Sometimes you have to tell these little white lies.x

That's a shitty situation. No wonder poor Katie is out of sorts. And you two. I would like to offer a suggestion to do with as you please. Katies vet will have some form of foster care, either in house or knowledge of somewhere else. With the situation with your brother in law and the fact that he is so ill the last thing your poor OH and yourself should have to deal with is a difficult pet, in the nicest of ways. Katie will be wondering what is happening as much as you two are. Phone the vet, speak to the receptionist and explain the situation. The girls at my vets will offer to foster a cat if they can. Worth a try xxxx

Thànks for the suggestion. The vet knows the situation but I am afraid there were no offers of help unfortunately. I also think Oh would think he was letting his brother down if hendid not look after Katie but with us moving house etc, we have had to be up the new place half the day again to try and keep the garden down it is I agree not an ideal situation. oh has had to take tomhis bed with a migraine I think in view of his own health he is certainly doing too much as I know I am. We are certainly going to try the tuna with shrimp and the cat treats and we are keeping her in so the other cats can't get in and steal her food.x

What a situation. I'm sure that you will do what you can. I'm still sorry that I won't see that picture of your OH bathing Katie ha ha. Keep smiling xx

I reckon you have mildly sadistic tendencies. Perhaps in a wicked moment I might pretend you suggested it would be a good idea, no that would be very wicked as poor Katie would probably be the one to suffer most.x

Sorebones profile image
Sorebones in reply to rosewine

Sorry. Not sadistic in the least. Just a warped sense of humour combined with a need to try to lighten the situation. Apologies if offence taken as none intended x
