Some advice please

I have recently been diagnosed and hoping some of you can give me some advice on ways to ease pain without medication. I have been prescibed with 300mg of gabapentin at night. I have a very low tolerance to pain relief and can't take them whilst looking after my children the down side being I'm in pain most days. Thankyou in advance for any advice xx mel

Hi :-)

I use a gel called pernaton which gets me through the day it's great stuff! And when at home I use water bottles, hot baths and a message chair. Also meditation is good for me.

Gentle stretches and equal rest to moving. I to try to only take med's come night time mainly so I can sleep through the night and get comfortable.

Yeah being high as a kite and having kids to look after isn't the easiest is it bless you. My little girl is 6 and I found explaining that she cant pulls my arms or jump on me works well because she understands it hurts mummy. Are your children young?

Hugs

Oh mate I understand completely I really do! It's so hard sometimes and being a Mum with fibro makes you a super Mum :-) dealing with pain and being exhausted all the time is tough but try to think positive with things that you have achieved through the day. Don't no about you but I'll say to my friends 'oh god iv got so much to do, got to cook and wash my daughters hair' they look at my gone out LOL but to people like us washing and blowing drying hair and cooking and cleaning is a killer!

Do you have support?

Epsom salt baths are a godsend. Have you tried using a Tens machine. I have one that also does massage and I find that very helpful in the night.

As Keeley said Pernaton gel gives a nice warm feel to the muscles and I now use something similar but I find it a bit cheaper called Musselflex. Also if you have that gnawing, burning type of pain the cool gels and sprays are another life saver and seem to help restless legs as well.

I know it is difficult when you have to look after children but try to have little rest breaks if you can even if you just stop for a cuppa as if you get overtired the pain gets even worse.x

I use a TENS Machine which sends electrical current to the pain areas of the body, I find it quite effective. I want to genuinely wish you all the best of luck in finding the answers that you are looking for.

All my hopes and dreams for you

I take my tablet 2hours before I go to bed which is a great help as I go to sleep straight away I then have one as soon as I get up what with the pain relief and the stretching exercises I do they seem to help.

Hello. I have been seeing a homeopath every month for the past 6 months. I'm prescription medication free. I was taking Amitryptaline (the dose was increasing all the time), Meloxicam, paracetamol and ibuprofen. I now take nothing. I sleep better and am in less pain. It hasn't cured it as I don't think anything will!!! However, I can get on with my day much better and without the groggy feeling. I still have pain and still on waking but once I am up and showered I feel I am ready to start my day. I really do recommend it. They don't cure the pain to begin with but talk to you about your life and troubles. It's not a quick fix but a journey! I also rub into any achy muscles and joint - Arnica by Weleda, massage balm and find this helps a little too.

Hope you find something that helps!

Jo
