Hi there I get terrible itching at times but this is a side effect from my meds so that might be and how's your general health cause cold sores mouth ulcers can be due to low health and its surprising just how much fibro can effect us into low mood not eating properly and all that stuff. Although if it persists to the pint of scratching sore all the time then go and see your g.p. as I know also that this illness can be effected by auto immune to although that doesn't mean you've got that only the doctor will really know. lots of hugs fibro friend

Thank you for your help. I think it is more likely it is an auto-immune condition, because I don`t take meds if I can avoid them, I have other methods and only take tablets when I really have to. I will probably go to the doc., but don`t hold out much hope of getting any useful help, however, one can only try, and I might be surprised

Hi Lyndia,

It might be best to see your GP. There's an outside chance it could be the onset of shingles, which needs early treatment. Alternatively, it could be caused by medication in which case your doc will want to do some blood tests.

I hope you feel better soon.

Thank you Moffy for your email. I had shingles about 3/4 years ago, and won`t take meds, only paracetamol, and occasionally half a sleeping pill 150 gm, because I have a condition called TGA [ Transiant global amnesia ]plus other problems which is not conducive to taking tablets only when really necessary.. It is difficult for me especially with having fibromyalgia and all the problems that comes with it, but I think it is possible I have an auto-immune condition which I did ask my doctor about, but didn`t really get much of an answer back, and haven`t pursued it since, as I have so many things wrong that doctors can`t do anything about, and have learned to live with and do what is possible at the time for myself, I am 76 yrs old[ but don`t look it ]and have had to put up with this sort of thing for many years, so don`t ever really expect too much out of anybody. I have a very good doc., but he admits he doesn`t know what to do for me, at least he and other docs., have been honest, but it doesn`t help me much, however, I think I must try again, but don`t hold out much hope of getting an answer., I think I might try and find a really first class doc. privately, but not quite sure where I will find one, any ideas? I am quite up on medical things as my family were in the medical profession, but I have moved around quite a lot, so I am out of touch. Sorry for going on so much. Thank you for your support. x

Definitely see your GP asap. This could be due to a few things - e.g. shingles, an autoimmune condition, medications - but not Fibro.

Thank you for your reply, I think if anything, it is an auto-immune condition, as I have had shingles twice, and I don`t take meds , because I have other conditions which are not conducive to taking tablets, it`s a case of - doing what I can for myself, which I have got very good at, but thank you for your support. Yes I get swollen achillies heels, sore feet, my back starts itchingthen the skin are is numb to touch but still itchy. Which is a weird feeling as pain with numbness does sound odd doesn't it.. I get loads of blummin cold sore which are awful. Also ulcers regularly. I wear a special boot support to stretch out the achillies tendon which does help.

I constantly have itching that has led me to sometime scratch so much that my skin is raw. I also have cracked skin on each corner of my mouth which sometimes burns and bleeds, also is very sore.

Hi Kira Thank you for your email. I did in fact go to the doc. yesterday, and he has given me anti-histamine tablets and said he didn`t think I had a autoimmune problems, as last year I had had a ; GOLDEN M O T : which had taken in every blood test etc that could be done, and they had all come back with no resuts, i did remind him , that happens a lot of the time, and actually had in the past. Anyway, I can`t be bothered with it any more, and am looking for a REALLY good private specialist, I have got to go for a scan for my stomach [ i have severe diviticulitis and irritable bowel ] as I`m in a lot of pain, just something else. so I`m a little concerned about that,as I know there is nothing that can be done, [not even an operation for various reasons ] and I get fed up with having to do whatever I can for myself Anyway, enough about me, perhaps you could go and see if the same medication would be useful to you.

Hugs from a friend

I have a permanently sore mouth. Not sure why though. I've had blood tests as GP thought it may be low B12, but nothing showed. XX
