Have you found buserilin (down regulation drug) thick to draw up, and slow and painful to inject?

Hi.

I havnt used buserilin, however any of the injections are painful. I found that by using the sterile wipes provided with my injections and rubbing firmly it gave my stomach a numbed sensation long enough for the needle to penetrate. With any drug you have to inject it is supposed to be done slowly due to the fact that you don't want to risk excess air getting in as this can damage blood vessels etc.. but also because of the method of action of the drug.

This helped me when I was injecting, prepare the drug then close your eyes for a few seconds and picture younas a complete family with a baby in your arms then don't hessitate, I think sometimes it the anticipation if it. The first morning I injected I stared at the needle and then my stomach for what felt like ages. And when I eventually got the courage to do it, I put the needle in and pulled it out in reflex reaction.

I know its hard but for us women its a fighting change at our happy endings. Stick with it.

Good luck

Saz :)

Hi. Good information from Saz. Some drugs do appear to be a little thick, so always remember to store your Buserelin and any other injectable drugs as instructed by the manufacturer. Always ensure that any drug you use is within its “use by” date. If you continue to have painful injection sites, then why not pop and see your GP and ask him/her if you can have some anaesthetic gel to apply before you inject? This is usually applied in a big “blob” and covered with a transparent dressing (you need to ask for those too). Do not rub it in and leave for 20-30 minutes, wipe off and inject. It just might give you a break from the soreness, and you don’t need to use it every time if you don’t need to. Best of luck with it, and keep those thoughts in your head, just like Saz does! Diane

I always found placing it in my armpit for 5 mins to warm it made things easier, but that was 15 years ago and things may have changed some what! Good luck x

P.S. Check you've got the right size needle, if its too thin it may take longer x

Hi. I'm now on day 8 of down regging. This is my first cycle of IVF. I was very anxious about the injections too but it isnt that bad. I'm alternating between my thighs and tummy so I'm not injecting the same area all the time. Sometimes it has hurt as I injected so I try to make sure I've pinched alot of fat to stick the needle in and theres alot of it to pinch lol. Good luck with everything.

Now on stimulation drugs. Injections do get easier and ice cube helps numb. So far probably alittle better than I had imagined. Good luck too. X
