DNA fragmentation test result

Hello

We have just had my partners DNA fragmentation test result back - screenshot of result included. Average sperm DNA fragmentation was 22% which is within fertile range... I thought this was a good/normal result?? Now I'm not so sure, as I have just done some research online and apparently some forums say 22% is still not ideal? Please can others advise? We did this test because I was wondering whether we had a bigger sperm issue at play that might have explained our recurrent chemical pregnancies and failed ivf transfers... I am now wondering whether we need to see a urologist? We were going to see Dr Ramsey who is very expensive. Would appreciate any thoughts/input please. Thanks xx

I think most clinic like it to be below 25% so 22% is good.

Try not too Google too much - lots of information but is it the best ? Might be an idea to discuss the results with your clinic

I wouldn’t pay to see Dr Ramsay with a fragmentation of 22%.. . that’s really good. My husband’s was 33% initially and he got it down with impyrl and alternate day ejaculation. On re test it was 8% xx

Thanks for your reply, my partner is already taking impryl, so I assume that is what has helped although can't be sure as we have never had testing beforehand so nothing to compare it to. We have had recurrent chemical pregnancies before and with ivf so I'm at a bit of a loss on what to do now. After 5 years of TTC I am starting to think that we may not be able to have children of our own. Maybe help with my peace of mind knowing I tried everything by seeing a urologist anyway? But on flip side, unless there is something wrong that hasn't yet been diagnosed - I think we have already done all the life style changes possible i.e diet, exercise, keeping cool down there, doesn't smoke, doesn't drink much... so unsure what else can even be suggested to help further at this point? Sorry for my rambling. Its all just so emotionally exhausting xx

Nope I completely get you xx We’re on cycle 7 and we’re drained emotionally and financially.

It’s worth going to see Dr Ramsay then just so you can say you’ve tried all options

Wow, 8% on retest, that's amazing. Was there any other changes made? Was alternate day ejaculation advised prior to egg collection or prior to your fertile window for natural conception? Xx

Sorry i’ve made a mistake there. So prior to re test he done daily ejaculation for 14 days. Abstained on day 15 and then sample on day 16.

He started the impryl, exercised more and changed his diet. Then once I start stims the clinic advises all male partners to do alternate day ejaculation until the day of trigger
