clearblue tests. HELP!!!

Hi everyone

Serial tester here 🫣

I am 5 weeks today - and yesterday I did a clearblue weeks indicator and it showed 3+ (which I cried with happiness to see)

Did another this morning and it’s gone down to 2-3. I’m now a mess. Has this happened to anyone else?

Does this mean I’m losing my baby?

Thanks

Hello lovely,

I absolutely wouldn't trust those tests for progression. They are good if you aren't sure how pregnant you are and you just want to find out once, but your hormones fluctuate all the time and depending on how much water you've drunk etc they can show different numbers.

My advice would be to get yourself a couple of pink dye tests and do those. Then see if your clinic will do you a HCG blood test.

Everything crossed for you xx

Thank you for replying. I’ve booked an appointment for Wednesday so hoping maybe they can shed some light. I’m just so worried something is wrong. I don’t have bleeding (touch wood). Just want everything to be ok!

That looks like a very positive test. I would try to step away from Clear Blue - especially the digital ones xx

Thank you so much. I think I need to because I’m driving. Myself insane!! Xx

I second what Millbank is saying - I too was a serial tester and had several experiences with digital that caused a lot of un-necessary upset, hope your app goes well today x

Thank you so much - why do we do this to ourselves 🫣🫣. I’m not too sure what will be the outcome of my appointment today because I’m still so early. But maybe even just speaking to someone might put my mind at ease!! Xx

I was terrible at the beginning of my pregnancy - I used to do about 10 tests a day, spent an absolute fortune & had a collection of them like a shrine 😂 in all honesty I only stopped testing so much after 12 weeks but in hindsight it was wild & i was my own worst enemy - don’t do it ! xxx

Awww you did what you felt was right for you ❤️❤️

I’m giving up on the tests and just holding out now in hope 🤞🫣🤞 xx

Hi. It means you’re not far away from your scan. Keep up with any prescribed medication , and let’s hope you get to see your little bean. Thinking of you Diane

Thank you Diane - do you think it’s a bad sign the weeks indicator went down overnight? Or am I overthinking?

Thanks

try not to depend on these tests and stop testing. Everything in pregnancy should involve certain milestones. The testing milestone is done. After this bloods should show needed progression. After this anxiety should be directed on your 6-8 week dating scan for heart beat. Then another anxiety will take you to 12 week dating, then anxiety will take you to 18-22 week scan. Do you see the trend? It won’t ever stop for 9 months then it will continue after birth. Concentrate on the milestones and take it one day at a time. Imagine, I had anxiety on the first day of toddler school. It was enough to make me break down but this is why motherhood is so important and special. Good luck!

Another explanation could be that the wee was more diluted. I would hang tight and try not to panic. Give it 2 days before you test again x

If you can, try to get an hCG blood test. It’s the best way to know what’s really going on, and it gives you some peace of mind. Sending you lots of hope and strength. All the best. xx

Same thing happened to me and I went crazy with panic. Do not trust the tests they are so variable. All was fine for me and my now 4 month old is asleep next to me. The only way to know for sure is hcg blood tests. I used medichecks. Good luck 🤞 xx

thank you so much everyone for replying - so I caved and did another test last night and it went back up to 3+. So that’s it - I’m not testing again because I will go crazy!! Going to just try and stay positive and scan is next Saturday!!

Thanks so much again ❤️

hi, would be following you. I’m 5 weeks today. However, I’ve stopped testing since letting the clinic know about the outcome. Prior to that, I tested everyday and I was in so much panick that my blood pressure was rising. The headaches was terrible and I ended up in boots to buy a blood pressure machine to keep my eyes on things. I ran myself into a nervous wreck with not sleeping, googling and constantly testing. I panicked when I stopped having any more symptoms too. I’m barely having symptoms and refuse to check again. However, I’m on pessaries, linking injections and patches…I’ll wait for my scan and take it from there. I hope you look after yourself too and try to avoid the amount of pressure we can be under during such a tough time. Since we’re so close in pregnancy, I’ll follow along your journey. Wishing us the best, safe and beautiful delivery , as we become stress free through out such a wonderful journey xxx

Testing constantly only adds more stress I think - why do we do this to ourselves!!!

Putting the tests down - just like you, and all we can do is wait!!

I’m the same with symptoms. Lower back is sore the odd time and sore 🍒. But that’s it! Maybe we are just the lucky ones who get mild symptoms!

Hoping everything goes smoothly for you too - you’ve got this 💙❤️💙❤️

its great you got 3+ but you need to stop now you’ve seen that (coming from the worlds worst serial tester!) as the hormones can fluctuate through the day so much that it won’t tell you anything more testing and they can have the wrong reading these tests because of the range they cover . Hopefully your clinic will do some bloods to reassure you. Pd my tests were always stronger in the afternoon than in the morning for some reason which could be a factor as well. Hopefully your scan is soon and will give you lots of reassurance 💜🤗 hang in there lovely xx

Glad to see 3+. So that’s me done testing before I give myself a heart attack 🤣🤣

This has been a natural pregnancy (complete surprise after 2 rounds of ivf this year which resulted in 2 early losses). So unfortunately I can’t get blood done with a clinic. But I have a scan booked for next weekend. So praying that goes ok!

Thanks so much 💋💋 xx

Aww not long away then 🤗 good luck xx

put the tests down! Once you get past 3 weeks post they’re not reliable any more and it’s clearly causing you unnecessary anxiety on top of what is a very anxious time. You can always go to the EPU if you’re worried. But you do really need a reason. They won’t see much at 5 weeks to help- 7 is a much more viable time for a scan. So cross your fingers for two weeks now and wait for the scan!

hiya. I’m 9 weeks pregnant & did a clear blue digi about 4 days after my OTF- it said 2-3 as it should. I waited 1 week expecting it to say 3+ but it still said 2-3. I was gutted & read everything online that I could find- the absolute consensus was IGNOR! A positive test is a positive test. I didn’t test again after that & had a normal scan (to the day) at 7+1, & have since had another at 8+4 (I’m a midwife so wangled one at work). I read a thread on Reddit I think by a mum who was wayyy into a twin pregnancy still showing 2-3! I know it’s agonising but I’d just step away from tests now & patiently wait for a scan. It’s a hard wait whether you test or not! Xx

Thank you so much for replying - congratulations ♥️♥️♥️

I think the verdict is - I hate clearblue now 🤣🤣 no more testing! Just adds more stress!!

Just need to wait another week and a bit for scan and hope and pray all is ok! Xx
