Should we do a DNA fragmentation and semen microbiome test if above average normal sperm parameters?

Has anyone found DNA fragment station and/or semen mictobiome trstingbto flag anything when semen analysis was ok?

My husband last had a semen analysis at the end of 2022, the results were reported as outstanding and above average, as was so when we had a test done in 2019 prior to starting IVF. My fertility acupuncturist has recommended repeating the semen analysts given the time passed, but also doing DNA fragmentation and semen microbiome testing. It’s just more money to spend on seemingly endless tests…,

Thanks Diane. I could only find minutes from a meeting a while back where DNA frag was discussed but seems like no decisions have yet been made to even include either DNA gram or microbiome testing in the add on list

Hi there, I have experience of this..

My husband's tests were OK. Had 2 unsuccessful IVF cycles then moved to another clinic where we had a Comet to test for DNA fragmentation. The results came back on the high side and they recommended he take a supplement called Proxeed plus for 3 months.

I'm not sure if it's advisable to take the supplement without having the test first but maybe you could ask your consultant that?

Yes that's right, they're antioxidants. Bit expensive but cheaper than the test😀
