Has anyone used King’s Fertility?

Hi. I’m 44 and want to take a shot at IVF with my own eggs. I’m planning to do one cycle, with PGT-A.

I’ve researched a ton of clinics in London, and most of them have a cost of around £13-14k for this treatment (which is huge for me - I’m single, and conscious that I have a very low chance of success). However, King’s Fertility has a cost of around £10,700.

Finance is a big factor for me, but I don’t want to simply pick the cheapest option. This is my one shot. If you have used King’s, I would be enormously grateful if you could share your experiences with me via PM - particularly if you are in your 40s. Does anyone know whether they have much experience of treating women my age? Has anyone used Dr Sarris?

I’m a little bit worried about why their costs are much lower than other clinics in London!

I didn't use that clinic but I was 44 and used my own eggs so just wanted to send you any luck and growing vibes that I've possibly got. I'm 48 now and have the most gorgeous energetic and funny 3 year old.

You’ve genuinely brightened up my morning. I love hearing these good-news stories. Congrats on your beautiful daughter! My grandma had a natural birth at 45 (my uncle weighed 13 pounds!), so I’m praying that we might have some militant-grade eggs in our family 🙏

I don’t have an answer I’m afraid but wanted to I say I’ve used two prominent London clinics and neither were this expensive for one round. Best of luck x

Thanks so much for responding. I hope you don’t mind me asking, but please is there any chance you can PM me the names of the 2 clinics, and roughly how much you paid? Most of the prominent clinics that I am looking at in London seem to cost around £7k for the IVF cycle (including meds, blastocyst culture, timelapse and sperm donation, etc) and then around £5k for PGT-A (which includes FET and embryo storage) x

Hi, I haven’t used them but I thought I’d let you know (in case you haven’t seen) that there is a whole series called Alex Jones Making Babies which follows many people going through ivf at Kings. Dr Sarris is featured on it regularly. Won’t help explain their costs but might give you some insight about him and the clinic. That’s if you can bring yourself to watch, as I know it’s a little close to home for us all so can be a tough watch. X

I had Dr Sarris at Kings when we did IVF in London and he was lovely to me - very understanding, very knowledgeable. A positive and calming influence throughout the start of the fraught and difficult IVF journey. He was particularly caring after one of my embryos thawed badly, helping explain things and providing an alternative plan for transfer day - which I really appreciated at the time. Very good at explaining things and your options as well X

I used Kings on NHS and private treatment and had positive experiences despite my low AMH (I was 35 though). I think the reason they are more affordable is that they are a not for profit. Any profit is reinvested back into the Fetal Medicine Foundation. x

I've not used them for the whole cycle, but my clinic in Kingston use Kings to store the frozen eggs and to do transfers. I've only had one transfer (which ended in a chemical, not their fault obvs as I have a history of them) but my experience was SO positive. We had Dr Sarris perform the transfer and he was so calming, told us everything that was happening as it was happening and we left super happy, chilled and excited. I've heard really good things about using them as a clinic. I'm doing NHS funded cycles so was given Kingston but if I end up having to pay for it I think I'll be using Kings.

Deffo worth watching the Alex Jones programme as mentioned by someone else if you can as you get a sense of what they are like. I assume their prices are a bit cheaper as they are trying to be affordable, not because they don't have good doctors/success rates.

Hi Football61,I used Kings Fertility via the NHS and they were excellent, I cannot thank them enough for my twin boys who are now 15 months old.

I was not in my 40s, but late 30s, 38 to be exact when I conceived.

I haven’t used Kings but I just wanted to add, after using 4 different clinics, price doesn’t reflect quality of care. What I personally found it reflected was whether you get a nice room while waiting for procedures, nice waiting area, and unfortunately now ivf is treated as a profit making business.

One clinic gave me the most expensive drug and 2 subsequent Drs told me there was no evidence that it was more successful, they must have been suitably wined/dined by the pharmaceutical reps.

My last round was at Guys NHS hospital, privately. I got the best and most professional care. Absolutely no perks. But who needs that, we all just want it to work. That was my cheapest round and they were excellent. I’ve also heard good things about Kings x

Thanks for your advice. I’m just starting out on my IVF journey. I’m a naturally cynical person, so when clinics are mentioning different treatments to me, it’s difficult to decipher whether they are necessary - or whether they might be trying to make a quick buck! Guess I’ll need to learn as I go - and I have also found this forum to be really, really helpful ❤️

I have used them last year and all my 4 transfers failed (I was 39-40). Their customer service is decent enough but after a failed cycle they offer you nothing at all, I had to beg for a post consultation or investigations, to no avail. I was with a different doctor though. I ended up switching clinics who in my experience took my failed transfers seriously and undertook investigations which explained why my cycles were unsuccessful. Hope this helps xx

Nenad, could you possibly PM me with the name as well? Currently at King’s. Not unhappy with it, so far, but have had two failed cycles. Want to see if there are any better options in case the third cycle fails too.
