4th Cycle BFN - any advice please 😔

Gutted doesn’t cut it.

I really struggled this round more mentally than physically, this season of our life is so tough 😔

My husband is amazing & I feel like I am letting him and my little girl down with every failure.

Neither me nor my partner have any known issues other than my missing tubes. We are making embryos, although not large numbers. I just don’t know what we can do differently…..

Should I ask for a freeze all round in the hope we get one in the freezer so my body can recover before transfer?

I’m terrified il never see a positive test again 🥲

Hello,

So sorry to hear of your negative test 💔

You’re not letting anyone down, so don’t think that. Infertility and IVF are the hardest journeys and the process can be long and painful with many hurdles for some.

What tests have you done so far? With each unsuccessful transfer, we explored a new test. For example, we did the following tests, to name a few:

- HyCoSy

- Hysteroscopy

- Karyotype screening

- Repeat thyroid screening

- Immunology screening

Before my fourth and successful transfer, we took a break from treatment and changed clinics. I wasn’t in the best mental state and needed to breathe and try find a bit of my sparkle again. It was the best thing we could have done. We took a spa trip, ate what we wanted, shared a few drinks and just looked after ourselves. My fourth round of treatment was by far the hardest physically, so I was glad I took that break to help me through it mentally.

What I think worked for us the fourth time was adding in the immune protocol alongside increasing my blood thinner medication and progesterone, and being closely monitored more so than previous rounds.

Anyway, if you feel you need a breather then take it to focus on your mental health.

I would speak to your consultant and find out what they’d do differently next time to improve your chances, and also focus on your mental health 💛

Best of luck 🤞🏻 🍀 xx

Thank you for taking the time to reply. We are going to have a few months off before our next round as like you said I feel I’ve totally lost myself and my sparkle 😔

We have never been offered any tests, before I lost my 2nd tube I had fallen pregnant basically every time a sperm could get to one of my eggs after my Hycosy which cleared a tube.

I guess I need to find out if we can have our embryo's tested & what tests I can have done to help the embryo implant.

Every cycle has got a slightly better result than the last but never led to a BFP

I don’t know where to start with regards to finding a new clinic 🤯 I need to do some research xx

Maybe speak to your clinic first about what you could do differently, and explore some additional tests via the HFEA. They summarise test effectiveness via the traffic light system - that said, it’s also based on evidence and research so like immunology screening is fairly controversial for example, but I believe in it as I think it’s what helped me conceive this time round.

If you’re thinking of maybe changing clinics, then the HFEA website will also help with that. I’m central London, knew I wanted to explore my immune system and narrowed down clinics based on what felt important to us.

Anyway, hope that helps. Best of luck with it all xxx

Hi Candlewax. A freeze all round could be an idea, and will give you time to adjust again. If not already tried, perhaps some lose dose soluble aspirin or heparin to ensure a good blood flow to your womb and lining. Also helps to prevent clot formation. Thinking of you. Diane
