Had my baseline scan today which showed everything as they wanted it to be (thank god!) and they’ve told me I can start stims on weds evening. First timer here so looking for any hints and tips for this stage of IVF. Do’s and dont’s very much welcome. The nurse mentioned lots and lots of water and a high protein diet so getting to grips with that now the first couple of days.
Thank you for any advice x

Hi there, That’s what I did this time! Lots of water and lots of protein plus my supplements and tried to get a good sleep which is easier said that done. My cycle was cancelled in feb because of me not responding as I should and last week they retrieved 33 eggs. So obviously a huge difference! I dont know if that was just a ‘bad’ month and this one better but I did feel better doing all the things I could. Also expect the unexpected. Sometimes these things don’t always follow the pattern you would expect so go in open minded to every scan. I also didn’t find the stims painful and you soon get used to them! I wish you so much luck on your journey. I hope it’s a smooth and successful one. Much love xxx
Hello, wow 33!! That’s amazing! Absolutely, want to do all I can because as we know there’s not much we can control. The very best of luck with your journey xx
Woohoo!! Well done on getting to this stage :)My nutritionist recommended an "egg fertiliser" smoothie daily which is:
250ml whole milk, 1 tablespoon flaxseed powder, 1 table spoon chia seeds, 1 banana, 1 tsp blueberry powder (blended up). It acts as a power up for your eggs - I saw a noticeable difference in 2 cycles having it daily vs the 2 cycles before without it. Good luck xx
This would be fab! I’m a first timer too. How are you feeling? I’m just waiting for AF then I think I’ll have a scan on day 1 and start stims day 2 I’m pretty nervous/apprehensive tbh. Best of luck to you too x
I feel exactly the same! Was so impatiently waiting for AF but it came before I knew it, hopefully won’t be long for you now. Really nervous but trying to stay hopeful. Have to say this forum has been a lifesaver for some of my silly questions 🤣 wish you all the luck, we’ve got this 💪🏻 xx
Hi Catlady. I’m on day 7 of stims. I try and take each day as it comes, try not to worry about the whole cycle, or the next scan. Live day to day for a little while. I have had up and down days but it’s not been as bad as I thought it would be. I ice the injection site and my DH plays a different song each night to make me laugh. Take it easy on yourself - I’ve had a bit of brain fog and I’ve been more tired than usual, plus I’m now feeling a bit sore. Put yourself first and good luck xx
Awwh that sounds so lovely what your DH does to bring a bit of laughter into it. My DH definitely wants be involved in some way which is great. Definitely trying to take each day as it comes, some days harder than others. Got my ice pack in the freezer ready to go! Very best of luck to you for the rest of your cycle xx
Hey. I’m on 2nd cycle and saw a noticeable difference in my follicles from 1st cycle. I drank pineapple juice everyday, ate 3 Brazil nuts and drank whole milk. Also lots and lots of water! Not saying any of that works, but it improved my cycle and I went for ec 3 days earlier than my protocol planned as my follicles we’re ready early. Best of luck! Xx
Congrats on a good first scan! I actually started to feel better when I started stims as downregulation gave me bad headaches. I’d say be kind to yourself if you don’t have as much energy as usual and like others have said plenty of protein and water! Ive found ivf friendly yoga and guided meditation/visualisation helps with my head/anxiety too. Good luck! Xx
Hi Rosey, I have to agree I feel so much better after stopping norethisterone, it was turning me into a monster! Do you use any particular apps for those? They sound really helpful, thank you xx
This is all really good stuff for me to hear too, will be going for my baseline scan on weds, around 3! Previously Ive just tried to give myself little treats, nice baths, nice walks, a good series, early nights and a bit of meditation when I remember! I also do acupuncture and find that really helpful too. Thanks Millbanks that smoothie sounds great Im going to get in on that action too 😂My boyfriend tends to feel a bit helpless, so he brings the meds and a little chocolate afterwards Good luck to you all
Hi Ellie, Awh that sounds so lovely! May get my other half to bring the chocolate too! Definitely want to try and do some daily walking, hope that’ll help clear my mind a bit and a good series sounds like an excellent idea! Very best of luck for your scan on weds 🤞🏻 xx
Well we definitely deserve a treat after the injections dont we, question is, if Im doing 3 do I get 3 chocolates too?! Good luck to you too lovely! xx
