10w scan - sensitive

I thought I should post a little update after some messages asking. We made it so far to a private scan today at 10w1d (after the 6w4d scan I couldn’t wait til 12!) and all is beautiful and we have lots of videos and pics of our little wiggly one! We have the 12w nhs one next obviously then also a voucher from our surrogate for a 14w gender scan 😁. Plus we are consultant led so from 16w we get a peek every 4 weeks! Today’s scan said heart rate and all development looks just right, so I’m excited to get to 12 weeks. The fear never goes but I feel slightly better after today!

I notice that it seems confusing when I refer to “we” to anyone that hasn’t followed our journey as this is a surrogacy pregnancy - but I’m embracing that - it’s ours as a team and our little embryo (gestational surrogacy with our embryo rather than traditional surrogacy). Our surrogate is our hero and amazing new friend.

Awww this is amazing new Orla!! I'm super delighted for you. The videos and scan pics privately are fabulous and great to keep. Lovely to hear that you are getting extra scans, you're very lucky....we are consultant lead and scans are just the same apart from growth scans after 20wks due tonight being twins. You're right though, the fear never goes but the scans do help, maybe not the lead ip but afterwards. Hope all continues to go well, would be lovely to hear your updates so keep us posted!xx

Consultant lead just means that you are being looked after by a Dr and not a midwife due to being slightly higher risk so any decisions of care are run by the consultant etc.xx
