Hi Ellmae! So exiting you are about to start! Are you in the uk? Nhs?

Was this a scan at the fertility clinic? And did they take any bloods etc?

As they have booked u for next month it seems they are doing some first checks. So technically you haven started ivf yet. But given the outcome of your tests such as your ovarian reserve and your partners checks they can offer you a treatment.

This would however start on your next cycle. Hope all goes well xx

Hi Ellmae,

My first consultation with NHS was cancelled in August due to covid.

We then chose to go private and I had my ovarian assessment and consultation at the beginning of August.

Following that, I had to organise a smear and wait for the results (four weeks!!), my husband had to do a second semen analysis, I had to get evidence of vaccinations and then go through all the consent videos and forms at our clinic which can take some time to complete. Then we had to get more bloods done with the clinic to check for Hep and HIV.

I officially started IVF treatment on October 19th. I'd say it all depends on the wait times of your clinic and how speedy your GP is during covid times. The smear held me up the most because of how long the results took to come back.

I recommend asking your clinic what clinical evidence they need and start organising that now. Best of luck :) x

Ps. My NHS appointment has now been rescheduled for December. We're following both routes to keep options open.

I should add... everyone ends up on individual protocols depending on your diagnosis. I am on what's called a long protocol. October 19th was my first jag (day 21 of your cycle), I waited a week for a bleed and now I'm currently on day 9 of taking stimulation injections to get eggs ready for collection.

It's a lot to take in at first with information overload so try to be patient I'd say xxx
