Metformin : Did anyone try this I have... - Fertility Network UK
Metformin
I’ve used metformin, not for PCOS but was recommended by the enocrynologist for thyroid. It’s fairly harmless but I have no experience with PCOS, sorry.
I was given it by the gynecologist at the hospital nearly 3 years ago. At first it made me feel a bit sick but after a few weeks I was okay. The trick is to not take the full dose at first and build it up over time. Before taking the metformin the home ovulation kits never showed that I was Ovulating, but once I started on Metformin they did 😀
Yes, I have been using this for many years now due to pcos. Personally I find it very helpful but I know of many who cannot tolerate the side effects. If you have any questions then please feel free to ask.
Ask your Dr to check Your active vitamin b12 ,folate, iron studies, vitamin D thyroid levels.Vitamin B12 deficiency causes infertility in the male & female, recurrent miscarriages, foetal abnormalities, high blood pressure, heart malformations & irregular beat, blood clots ,autism & dementia.I would not take Metformin Or hormones as they cause malabsorption of vitamin B12 which puts you at risk of above conditions.I have 48 years experience as a midwife & fertility awareness educator.I Have attended Australia’s National fertility conferences for update education.
