Hiya, I would also say don't do it. The chemicals in hair dye esp bleach aren't very good for you/your eggs. The 3 months before a cycle are esp important because an egg takes about 3 months to grow and mature inside you. In that time I'd avoid harsh chemicals and try and be as healthy as possible. X
I would personally consider anything safe to do whilst pregnant, safe to do whilst TTC so there is no reason why you can’t have a few highlights. I think as long as you not painting bleach directly on your scalp you would be fine.
I never stopped having my hair/nails done whilst going through IVF. I think we go through enough and sacrifice enough already on this journey without taking away all of life’s luxuries as well but that’s just my personal feelings on it. I think it’s far more important to be happy and relaxed when having treatment than anything else.
I was told to wait until 12 weeks then it would be no problem as the bleach won’t actually be on the scalp it’s fine. But that was only when I was pregnant through ivf I had my hair coloured no problems there. I am a hairdresser x
Hi User. I have had a word with my own hairdresser recently, and she reckons that most of the professional hair colours could be harmful if left on for a while. However, she said that if you were just having something like highlights done using foil, then the roots tend not to absorb much if any of the colour, and the rest of the hair is dead anyway!! However, “Holland & Barrett” do carry a range of safe hair colourants to use during pregnancy. They are a nationwide outfit, so I am sure you would be able to visit one fairly locally. I also recenyly spoke with the “Cosmetic and Perfumery Association (CTPA) and they assure me that hair colourants are one of the most studied consumer products on the market, and are safe for all women, pregnant or not. But if you are still concerned, why don’t you buy a chemical free semi-permanent dye such as “Clairol Nice’n’Easy”, which lasts from 6 to 8 washes. It might only tone down your roots rather than cover it completely, but better than nothing. Hope that helps. Diane
