Hi guys, Me and my husband finally got through our appointment with Barts Hopsital this weekend after being referred last year for IVF.
This appointment is an all day one, where we have more test done on a fast track basis (semen analysis, ultrasound etc) and then meet with the consultant the same day.
All going well, I was wondering how long we should expect to wait after this initial appointment for the next appointment and then to actually have the IVF!
Any help on timelines would be great! X

I had all my tests done before... but on the all day session we were given all meds and started immediately... not sure if things have changed now though..,, good luck my dear.... ohh and another thing I found the consultant dr.sabatini was amazing and I requested to see him throughout. Xx
I am at Barts and my experience was I had one initial consultation at Barts, then the longer group "information session" where I got my meds and started treatment, came about 3 months later. I have found that they will tell you to expect the next stage/appointment in a certain number of weeks or months but it has always taken much longer than they promised. The treatment seems good, I am also with Dr Sabarini. But to actually get the next appointment I have had to involve PALS three times to move things along after promised dates have been missed. I also found that they take many days to respond to emails unless you involve PALS. And to get through on the phone can take 20+ minutes. It is all due to NHS being underfunded and so it is understaffed, I just wish I had not trusted their promised timelines as I found waiting very stressful.
Oh goodness! That doesn’t sound good at all. I have found waiting for this initial appointment stressful enough. Sorry that you had that experience with them! But hope things are working out better now? Are you still going through the process? X
I think any NHS clinic would be the same to be honest, it is just frustrating with the waiting. Once I got PALS involved they were very responsive and as I said the treatment itself seems good. I have had one fresh ICSI cycle which resulted in a chemical pregnancy plus 3 frosties, and am in the middle of my second fresh cycle. Doing stims this week. Saving the frosties as backup.
