I know this isn’t the correct forum but frankly the others on here are no where near as responsive or helpful. So I’m just looking for some advice with this.
My 16 month old son keeps having hard bullet like stools he is going daily more than once but it’s not a lot and like I say rock hard. I’ve been giving him fruit and have just bought some prune juice but he’s not keen. Was hoping someone might have a top tip?!
As always wishing you ladies and gents all the best of luck you xx 🍀🍀🍀

Hi LHow81 i know what you mean about it being the best forum, I've joined others for others for other reasons and they are useless!! I can't speak from experience but a friend of mine swears by peppermint oil for constipation on her small children. The stuff she uses is the all natural more expensive type. I think she just rubs it on hers kids bellies. I'm not a doctor so probably best to check it's OK with someone more experienced than me, but worth a try? Just don't rub neat cheapy type peppermint oil as it will irritate. You need to get specialist stuff. Good luck xx
My nephew had something similar and my sister's GP prescribed a pessary to be used daily and that really helped. I'd go to your GP in the first instance. Xx
Congratulations first of all on having your son it’s lovely to hear successful stories.
Medically I cannot advise you- I think if you have concerns over your little boy then take him to your GP. Trust your mummy instinct- you know him better than anyone. If your feeling is telling you something isn’t right then go with it- mums always know.
Your GP can prescribe lactalose which is a stool softener. Usually does the trick. Pure orange juice and plenty of water can help things too. Weetabix and sweetcorn as well. Hope your son gets better soon.
See the doctor, we get kids like this at school and a little movicol early on can get things moving again. If you leave it too long their bowel can back up and they start to get leakage (ew).
Also make sure he is taking in plenty of fluid preferably water x
Is he in discomfort with it? If so then get him to the docs. If not then I’m sure I read on Facebook that p foods help, prunes and pears being the two that I can remember. I gave my LO Ella’s fruit pouch to suck on when he was blocked up and he loved it. Have a search for the group Baby Led Weaning Cookbook (app support) on Facebook and ask on there (technically it’s supoosed to be for asking questions about baby led weaning and recipes from some apps associated with the group but questions like yours are asked frequently. In fact you could just put constipation into the search box and you’ll prob see loads of similar posts).
