Exercise during 2ww 🤸🏼‍♀️

Due to have egg transfer tomorrow and just wondering what I can do about exercise. I go to the gym most mornings before work and do about 45 mins. I usually do a mix of weights (squats, lunges etc..) and cardio. Just wondering what exercise I can do instead? I’ll still be going to the gym because of where I live in relation to work because of traffic. I do find it’s a good stress reliever and it’ll drive me mad doing nothing.

I usually go to the gym 3-4 times per week and do a combo of hiit and weights. After embryo transfer I just fancied chilling until my official test date although I really missed not going I just felt it was right. Got a positive too and am currently awaiting my 7 week scan! Not sure what to recommend! Have the hospital given you some guidance? X

Great news. They said mild exercise but I don’t really know what they mean by that 🙈 x

Maybe keep it to light cardio on the cross trainer or something and light weights? I didn't want to squat as I had the fear it might force things south 😂X

hi sarah, ive always been very active - gym, running, bikram yoga - both for fitness and as a way of keeping stress free, so totally understand how you feel.

this is my third attempt & i reluctantly stopped exercising 2 weeks ago, just because i want to give myself the very best chance of success. i am surprised at how much i’m enjoying being chilled & not rushing around all the time. i’ve been doing plenty of walking, but nothing strenuous.

my advice would be to take it easy during your 2ww - it’s only a couple of weeks.

On my first 2ww I was advised to go for a walk, nothing more strenuous than that. When I mentioned having previously gone to several classes etc the lovely nurse scowled and said no... so I walked lol!!! Good luck xx

I struggled with this aspect of things too but what you probably need to remember is that your ovaries might still be quite swollen from the stimulation drugs for a while even after transfer, so it really is best to relax and cut right down on the exercise for a couple more weeks.

I didn’t really exercise during 2ww other than just getting out and about walking. I’ve previously been very fit and competed in elite sport for many years so it was a bit strange to me, but I’d had a lot of eggs collected and didn’t want to take any risks.

I ended up taking quite a few weeks off exercise after my positive test cos I felt really sick but have been back at the gym for quite a while now and still managing a modified programme at nearly 30weeks pregnant.

Congratulations on your pregnancy. I had quite a few eggs collected to and my stomach as been so sore since so not done anything. I think you’re right and it’s best to rest for the time being xx

I am a very active person too from walking, running, mountain biking, road biking, bootcamp but I have been told on all of my cycles that I was allowed to walk only and swim after 12 weeks. No weight bearing activities.

I too got the massive scowl and look of horror from nurses/Drs.

It is really hard to stop especially if you have been working hard. I would advise taking it easy (walking) and no jarring or lifting heavy things.

You could always try - 'well I am not allowed to hoover or lift the laundry basket' - it worked every time for me!!!!!
