This is my understanding (not great at all!) of the grading system for blastocysts but ultimately just relied on the embryologist to choose and tell us whether the embryo was good quality or not.
The embryos are graded from 1-5 according to size. Generally, they are looking for a 3 or higher. There is also another set of grading from A to D with A being the highest quality. Iβm not quite sure the criteria for it.
Yes! Well done. Good luck for the 2ww xx
Hi Gingergirl17 congrats on your ET!! The grading is 1-5, ABC, ABC. 5 +A+A would be most developed (hope that makes some sense!!) Apparently there is a grade 6 (fully hatched blastocyst) but very rare. The numbers indicate the growth development of the blastocyst and the letters indicate the cell numbers & spacing. Its called the Gardner blastocyst grading scale if you wanted to Google it. I wouldn't pay a huge amount of attention though, as it doesn't mean anything with regards to chromosomal development, which is often the most important thing.
The grading at my clinic is different, only numbers 1-4, but two sets of numbers. The thing is, as Lord Robert Winston wrote somewhere, the only top quality embryo is one that turns into a live baby, so at this point the grading doesnβt really matter. Hope your embryo snuggles in now x
Yay! Well done. Best of luck xx
Good luck π€π» xx
