Hi ladies first scan on Friday (I'll be 7 weeks) so I'm a bit ahead of myself what are your experiences with metformin/what does your consultant suggest? the clinic have said stay on it up to 12 weeks but my consultant who will be taking over my care once I'm discharged on Friday wants me to come off it.. which I'm not sure I'm comfortable with given I had a missed miscarriage at 6.5 weeks last time. Thanks girls

Congratulations on your pregnancy!❤

A fertility doctor has put me on metformin and has advised I take it for the rest of mylife-eek! Apparently women with PCOS are more likely to develop type 2 diabetes and the metformin reduces likelihood, well that's what I took from what she said. Anyway... she also said if and when I get pregnant I should continue taking it all through pregnancy and I think she said something about it being helpful to minimise miscarriage but I could be wrong on that.

I'm sure your doctor is making the best calls for yours and baby's needs! ☺

Thankyou! Your right the clinic confirmed reduced miscarriage and risk of gestational diabetes so definitely worth staying on for at least 12 weeks if not throuout! 👍🏼Good luck with everything I hope you get ur BFP. Also my clinic recommended ubiquinol q10 and inofolic for egg quality and proceed plus and ubiquinol q10 for sperm. This made a huge difference to DH count between round 1 and 2. Worth a look 😘Xx

Yes do there very good! Expensive but worth it! 👍🏼 Xx

I'm in the same position although my fertility consultant said to stay on the whole pregnancy as it's not harmful but the midwife said I would have to stop and was very adamant as it affects blood sugars. Although bit confused about that as they prescribe metformin if you get gestational diabetes so surely that might stop it.

I have an appointment with normal hospital consultant to discuss at the end of Aug.

I'm not happy at all about coming off coz my gp told me to stop it last time when I was 5 weeks and then at 8 weeks had my scan and found I had a miscarriage and it was the size of 5 weeks xx

Push to stay on it! My clinic was very clear yesterday about reduced risks of MC and GD. So I went armed to the midwife (she called) and she said it was fine and I would get chance to speak to the obstetrician at 12 weeks (I plan to stay on it throughout he just doesn't know it yet 😝)Stick to ur guns gps are no expert. Bless you I'm so sorry I have felt ur pain it awful and adds anxiety to any future pregnancy. You must be nearly 12 weeks? Hope alls well and good luck with everything xx

Thanks for the info! I'm seeing the Gynae consultant at the end of August to discuss but I'm not happy about stopping it especially as the fertility consultant said stay on it. The midwife was going on about it messing with blood sugars but surely it would stop us getting GD.

I'm 12 weeks now got my scan on Tuesday. It was gonna be Wednesday on our anniversary but they changed it which is a shame. Just hope everything is ok xx

I'm 5 weeks and have been taken off it? The nurse advised me to stop as it's an unnecessary medication now as I was put on it to regulate my periods x

Dear AllyBell8, so happy for you!!!

Seems like I'll have to start metformin too. Didn't go to the fertility doctor yet, just getting prepared. But I have no ovulation for a while and they've found out diabetes. Hope it's going to feel fine) I've never used any medication on regular basis before ...

Thankyou 😘 Good plan they like at least 3 months before egg collection so it should help improve your egg quality 😊TBH first couple of months is a bit rough I had terrible upset stomach with it but stick with it you do get used to it. Also crap food as you only react badly if you know what I mean 😝TMI! Good luck with everything. xx

Thanx, dear! Yeah, side effects is what scares me more than everything now:) I feel a bit confused to say it aloud - but, yes, it scares me that I might lose form (because of diabetes too), start being sick, won't be able to do sports as I used to ... I know it all worthy once it works. So I'm really happy to hear that it does!!! Take care! xxx
