Was hoping for third time lucky .... but not this time. Anyone got any experience of egg donation/egg sharing ?

Just finished our third cycle .... which at the outset of our IVF journey was going to be our limit.

In summary

Cycle 1: 9 follicles, 3 eggs, 3 fertilised, 2 x 3day embie transfer. BFN

Different clinic for next rounds (privately as >40yrs)

Cycle 2: pre cycle endo scratch, 10 follicles, 8 eggs, 5 fertilised and lasted to day 3, 1 x 5 day BC. 2 BCs frozen (not great quality) Biochemical pregnancy ended @ week 6.

Cycle 3: pre cycle endo scratch, 14 follicles, 13 eggs, 3 fertilised (unknown reason), 2 x 5 day BC transfer. BFN. Addition of tinzaparin injections following ET.

I consider myself fortunate that I have coped with all the demands of treatment despite a negative experience of EC on my first round.

i find myself now considering more cycles (finance permitting) despite promising myself and my husband that I wouldn't become drawn onto IVF treadmill.

I am wondering whether my best odds may now be egg donation/ sharing but don't know many who have done this and what it entails.

Would like to hear from others who have explored or undergone this treatment.

Thanks

Hi Silvercloud88. Just wanted to wish you huge luck if you do decide to go ahead with this. All I can say, is that I have got lots of photo albums created from photos of all aspects of fertility treatment. Quite a number are of happy families formed by using donor eggs, sperm and even embryos. All have their story to tell, but they have gone down the donor route and succeeded in achieving a family. Thinking of you as you make new choices. Diane

How misfortuned, it should be hard to pass through all of this.

In case of ed you should inspect donor`s medical records.

And than, according to your situations you can even choose donor (some clinics can give full information about donors: from medical records and photos to habits, hobbies and graduate) or you should absolutely trust to you directly chosen donor.

The main thing - just don`t give up, all will be fine. Do whatever you must and born a healthy baby\babies. That`s possible and we`ll follow your lead :)

We used DE for our third & final round. We stayed in the UK. We were told by 2 clinics that DE would offer 40% chance of pregnancy but sadly we got another BFN and nothing to freeze. We got 7 eggs but only 3 were mature so that was disappointing considering the donor was younger than me but that was all explained when we signed up for egg sharing.

I found The Donor Conception website useful in answering my queries/concerns about bonding with any resultant babies.

DE has worked for other ladies on here.

Good luck.

So sorry your journey has been such a tough road. It's a wonder any of us stay sane.

It certainly seems that fertilisation is a bit of the issue. Have they investigated the sperm quality too? Have you ever had sperm DNA testing? Personally before I took the step to DE I'd want to know that base had been covered too. Just a thought.

Wish you well with whatever you decide and hope your journey had a happy ending xxx

I am sorry that your cycles have failed. I would recommend considering ivf with PGS NGS cos of bp and failed IVF-s or undergo ivf with de. If you want to find out more about de, prices and stats, you might visit eggdonationfriends com, that is fully dedicated to ivf de. All the best
