My GP told me that I was in age bracket to qualify for 3 rounds IVF (Scotland) as I was referred by him when I was 39. However I have since been told that since I was 40 at first hosp appt, now only qualify for 1. Bloody waiting lists! Waited a year for 1st referral! Who is right? Can anyone help? Confirm? Please?
Age Rules (grrrrrr): My GP told me that... - Fertility Network UK
Age Rules (grrrrrr)
you could contest it as you were in the age range at referral... Your GP could have done an urgent /fast track referral. You could also contact your CCG as they make the rules!! You definitely have grounds for an appeal! Best of luck.
Hi Cassie, I'm 39 turning 40 in August. I have been turnt down just recently for ivf because my hubby smoked with all the stress I started smoking again it just seemed so unfair that someone else has control over my life that's how I felt but I have now packed in and the hubby is trying his hardest. I'm in Liverpool so it could be different in other city's postcode lottery they call it. I think your gp is right. I have even looked at going abroad but have decided to have the first round here at least that way I will know what to expect if we have to go abroard. I wish you lots of luck on your journey. Xxx
Hi Cazzie75, you must be so annoyed. Im not sure if you can maybe appeal the second round as you should have been fast tracked into the system being over 35 and dont know how you would go about this. However I do know that it is currently only 2 rounds being offered, 3 rounds have only been suggested to be introduced into Scotland from April 2017 although this hasnt been confirmed yet. Here is a link to the Scottish criteria.....

Hope this helps a little.x
I am in Scotland and 37 when I was referred and told 2 cycles xx
That does seem really unfair. I'm in scotland too and had to wait nearly 2 years. They also didn't tell us until nearer the time that if you get less than 3 eggs you ll only get 1 cycle. I got 1 egg so now won't get a 2nd go that seems unfair too xx
I know the thread is a bit old, but I was treated a year ago and was offered 3 cycles (in Scotland and I was 34 at the first app.). Luckily it worked the first time though, so will have to pay for any future tries with FET.
