So many different opinions on google, but hoping someone on here can help me!

I get a positive OPK every month on cycle day 11 and my period is regular each month 24-25 day cycle, does this gaurantee ovulation? Ive read online that even getting a positive OPK doesnt mean youve released a egg?

I'm not medically trained but it is possible to get an lh surge and not release an egg- tho not that common.

I found out two months ago I have polycystric ovaries- I'm on my second round of clomid. I was shocked to learn I'm PCO as I do have periods every month - but I do have many issues with periods and in the words of my fertility specialist " certainly have a menstrual cycle problem"- don't let my story worry you.

I think the rules of thumb are if you have regular cycles then you're most likely to be ovulating.

The ovulation predictor kits aren't always that reliable. My consultant has advised me against them and told me what days to try on. But that's because I'm on clomid and the two don't mix well.I think if you try 2 - 3 times a week you have covered yourselves and don't need to use a ovulation kit. Sometimes these can cause stress- but for some it may work.

Have you had any fertilty investigations done? Your GP should be able to run some basic hormonal blood tests for you and s semen analysis for your hubby. A progestrone blood test would be able to tell you for sure if you ovulated that cycle. X

Thankyou for your reply! Yes sadly ive been diagnosed with endometriosis, weve been told to keep trying until my surgery, so i dont have much faith. Ive had a few blood tests done, the progesterone came back at 23, i was advised that this needed to be over 30 to guarantee ovulation, but he didnt seem to concerned to send me to check again?

I'm confused by your specialist- I can't understand why he's not repeated the test.

If you are having difficulties ovulating- sounds like you are then you should be prescribed clomid to help you ovulate.

Perhaps he will prescribe clomid after you've had the surgery- wants to give you the best chance of clomid working.

Have you been given a date yet? X

Hun I'm so sorry to hear what a difficult time you are having.

I know how awful it is when there is obstacles in your way- my gynae issues put a real spanner in the works for us trying for baby- it was literally a year and a half of hell to get here. Even tho it was hard it was worth it- we are now getting the help we needed and our consultant is brilliant ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

My ex fertility consultant dismissed my low progrestrone blood test- he didn't want to know- he didn't scan me or anything. He was just awful.

Your consultant sounds a lot better- at least he's giving you a decent explanation. Perhaps you are ovulating- I am sure your consultant wouldn't be able to say that if he wasn't totally sure- he could be sued.

The other thing to consider is when do you have a progestrone blood test.? As you don't have a 28 day cycle day 21 wouldn't be the best day. If your cycle is 24/25 days I'd test on day 17/18 of your cycle. If you tested later you might not see the progestrone at a sufficient level.

I paid to have a progestrone blood test last month- I did not detect an lh surge and was stressed the clomid hadn't worked- it had worked my sticks were very wrong. This is why I think the calendar method is better- the stress I had ๐Ÿ˜ฉ I went to a private clinic to have the blood test - results back same day- for me it was worth the peace of mind. Just a thought,

Could you contact the hospital were you are having your surgery and ask to be put on a cancellation list? I believe from referral to treatment i.e your surgery max wait is 18 weeks.

Sometimes it pays to be a pain in the backside! If you keep phoning up to chase your op- it is your right to after all ๐Ÿ’กThat will get the hospital to shifting and you will soon find a date becomes available. I done this last year- it was effective! ๐Ÿ˜

Don't forget we are all here for you ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•

Oh i know hunni- infertilty takes over your life. It's overwhelming and so many people just don't understand. I talk to my husband about it- but how many times can you keep saying the same thing over and over again.

Good luck with your doctors appointment- I hope it goes well and you get the support you need from the medics. The GP maybe able to fight for you with the hospital- just tell your GP you're really stressed out by it- I got my GP to fight my corner with a gynae -long story I won't bore you with! It worked ๐Ÿ’ก๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ˜

Do chase up with the hospital- I know it's boring been there myself -play the stress card. Tell them how stressed all of this is making you- they have a duty of care so they will have to comply. It's awful we have to go to such lengths to get listened to but alas we do ๐Ÿ˜ณ

This is will be worth it- every step you take is getting you closer towards having your baby ๐Ÿ‘ถ

Your result of the progesterone was low, but they should definitely test it again for you! It will put your mind at rest. I had mine in march and it was 35, which they said looks like ovulation. I asked my surgery for a repeat progesterone test this cycle for my peace of mind since we are still trying our hardest for natural before IVF in January, and they just left me a form at reception and I'm going on Thursday which is my day 21.

If they won't do it for you, you can buy a private test with a postal finger prick blood test from medichecks.com it will be around ยฃ40 I think. I use them for a few of my thyroid monitoring tests but they do all hormones too xx
