It would be lovely to share experiences and support on this journey ๐๐๐
Finally after a 2 year wait! We're ha... - Fertility Network UK
Finally after a 2 year wait! We're having a 2nd round if icsi starting the 30th June. Is anyone starting their journey around the same time?
Hi Hun the way things go look like I'm gonna start my 2 round IVF too if so should be 27 June ๐๐ I'm so excited and scared at the same time ... ๐๐ Is over a year since the first one ..knowing more and this time know what questions to ask . We being offered from my doc to use Goal F 150 and just to add embryo glue ...but saying that we gonna see her this Friday and we want to add extra endo scrach which that need to be done I think day 21 the day when we start med . Finger cross this time ๐๐
Hi, that's great your starting roughly the same time as me ๐. Are you on the long or short protocol? I'm doing the short this Time- 10 days of meds and 14 days injections. No down regs this time yay! So very quick. You mentioned endo scratch- how does this help? How did your last round go for you? Xx
Hi Hun I'm gonna be on long protocol ๐ My first cycle I was on 150 injection. They collect 11eggs 5 fertilise . They put 5day morula and blastocyst nothing to freeze ๐ They saying that in first cycle they prefer not to "use any extra"..but this time I been ask if I want embryo glue. We will pay extra for that . Now we want to ask for endo scrach aswell. I just want to add all extras we can to know that we done everything we could to help us self. Endo scrach is similar to smears test . I'm not very good with describe things but u can tap on Google how it works and success rate Hun โบ๏ธ Xx
Hi sum1sweeta. That's great news to hear! As regards to endometrial scratching, the lining of the uterus (the endometrium) is gently โscratchedโ using a thin catheter (a fine, flexible, sterile, plastic tube) which is passed through the cervix.
This is often offered to women who have had two unsuccessful IVF cycles, but can be offered during any cycle, depending upon your consultantโs recommendations. New research and evidence suggests that scratching the uterine lining causes a โrepair reactionโ which may increase embryo implantation rates. There have also been studies that show it also promotes uterine stem cells to develop. More research is underway to understand exactly how this works. It is usually done on day 21 of a treatment cycle, but if your periods are irregular, your consultant will advise on the best time for the procedure to be carried out. You must make sure that you have protected sex for one month prior to the treatment, to ensure that you are not pregnant. The procedure is not painful, but you may experience a little discomfort. It is much the same as having embryo transfer, and is often followed by slight bleeding afterwards. You will most probably be prescribed a course of antibiotics to take afterwards, to ensure you donโt get any infection. It is quite safe to take some paracetamol, should you feel any discomfort afterwards. Obviously, I do wish you well with this next cycle and of course for success. Diane
Hi Hun, I'm starting injections for my 2nd cycle, a frozen on 30th June too. I'm injectioning for approximately 4 weeks before transfer. So similar timings although I know it's different as mine is a fet this time
Lots of luck to you xx
I'm really confused, I am under the impression from the clinic who I am visiting on the 30th June, that I will be starting the process but it will be day 17 in my cycle (she said between day 16-23 is okay? ) but reading threads online, people have started day 1 or 2 in cycle???? X
Hi sum1sweeta. This is all down to consultant preference. You can start on Day 1 or around Day 21. The second option works more with your own hormones. Either option is fine. Good luck! Diane
Phew thank you I was starting to worry, I just I'm trying to swap shifts at work to accommodate time off and thought I'd got it all wrong ๐
Hi sum2sweeta. During the โlong protocolโ form of IVF treatment, there is little or no difference between starting down regulation at the beginning of your cycle or on Day 21. It is really just down to the consultant/clinic and their procedures, but in terms of response to drugs and success rates there is no difference. The only thing that is thought to have a slight difference is that if you start on Day21 then you are less likely to get cysts develop on your ovaries. However, it doesn't mean that you would get them by starting at beginning of your cycle either! Diane
See that's why I was confused because I'm doing short protocol ( 10 days meds and then 14 days injections) ?
Hi sum1sweeta. Hmmm! I see what you mean. Most short protocols I have dealt with have started on Day 1 or 2 of their cycle. Maybe check?? There are several ways of approaching a short protocol, and remember that they manipulate you! I'm sure you've read any instructions you have been given inside out, so if still confused, give them a call at the clinic. Diane aka confused.com
Thanks Diane, I waiting for pharmasure to deliver my meds and I rang the clinic, they told me I will find out more at my appointment. Xx
