hi there, NWL Hospitals are offering ... - Fertility Network UK
hi there, NWL Hospitals are offering only one free IVF cycle. The general norm is 3 free cycles. How can i find hospitals offer more cycles
Hi there. You'll be lucky to find anywhere that offer 3 free cycles and the norm is actually 1. NICE guidelines say 3 but unfortunately most clinics offer just 1-2. You would need to research a particular clinic within your area to find out. But you are only entitled to the cycles under that NHS trust if you live in that area, so you would have to move! Good luck x
Funding is run by your GP through a local commissioning group, so the offer comes from there, so no way of getting more without a significant move - which will probably cost the same as the treatment. Really sorry. There are letter templates on the INUK website to appeal and also to lobby your MP if you would like to use those.
At least you have one free chance! We're in North Yorkshire having treatment at sea croft Leeds (which is a hour and half drive) and we have to pay for every single thing.
Wow, we're very lucky to get 3 cycles in Oldham. Must count my blessings. Thunderthighs is right, your GP clinical commissioning group (CCG) decides what treatment, services & therapies are funded in the local area. Whichever nhs hospital you have your treatment at, they are governed by how many cycles your CCG will fund. So much inequity - you could try writing an appeal to your CCG. NICE guidelines recommend 3 cycles, the guidelines are not a legal requirement but they do hold weight & I know of one couple who successfully appealed for a 2nd cycle to be funded.
thank you all for your replies
