I am new to this, and am currently on day 2 of my downreg injections for my first cycle.
We have paid for 3 rounds through Access Fertility after not qualifiying on the NHS due to my AMH level being too low. My husband also has an extremly low sperm count.
Is anyone else going through this at the same time!? Or any success stories to keep me positive and sane!?
Figured I'd reply on here rather than keep hijacking the other thread we were commenting on
I'm not getting any side effects yet either, I figure as long as I'm doing the full injection, it must be right though!
I'm lucky in that my AMH is good (for my age at least) but husband sperm count is low and not mobile, hence ICSI too. We've used Access fertility same as you - just seemed a really good idea to just pay it and then be able to forget about the money a bit, rather than budget separately for each round (especially as we're both self-employed)
My baseline scan date is 12 Jan. I've decided I'm just not going out during this cycle - covid can do one!!
Yeah exactly, so its all going in so nusy be right haha!
Thats good about your AMH, they said to me mine was equivilant of someone late 40s.
Yes my husbands sperm count was that low they couldnt get an accurate reading on it but they could see some moving forward which is positive!
How many have you gone with with access? We qualified for 2 and 3 cycles with 50% refund. The difference between the 2 and 3 was minimal so just went for that!
Ive been super wary going out even pre xmas, askes to work from home etc as just didnt feel confortable mixing at all, but now i will literally be house bound!!
Ah so youres is literally the same date as mine, how exciting!!! Xxx
I tell my husband his sperm swim like he does - like a brick. Bless him, we were so sure it was me (history of fibroids and surgery for them a few years ago) so it was a bit of a shock when they said it wasn't - we had to reset our expectations/ decisions etc, it was quite odd.
Access will only do 2 cycles if you're over 39, and no refunds, but I think 2 will take long enough that if 2 don't work, 3 would have been pushing it, age-wise.
It's good you can work from home - we've had a home office for the last 3 years or so, so I'm fortunate I've got the setup here that I'm used to, I'm just never leaving the house now!
We are pretty much the same schedule - it's lovely to have someone to be excited with - I think the waits between are going to be the hardest parts.
We were quite lucky to get to this point of finding out it was both of us. We only really found out as i was suffering with extremly heavy periods that went on for months at a time, and on the back of getting that sorted i asked for them to check if my fertility was affected and here we are. I do say everything happens for a reason! We could have carried on trying naturally but we just felt that if that didnt work, we might have worse odds if we went to tru ICIS then so just bit the bullet and went for it!
Work have been really understanding actually, i just think if it does work and i still think i will be on edge going places while covid is around.
Its really nice to know we are on the same schedule! Have they said when they expect your egg collection to be? They have said all being well end of jan/ start of feb for me xxx
My GP had told me there was no chance of pregnancy when he diagnosed fibroids -he suggested a hysterectomy in the beginning (I was 37/8 at the time, so looking back that seems excessive!) I got a great surgeon though and he removed the two largest with no scarring, he warned us we should get pregnant asap, just in case they came back but life got in the way.
That was why 4 yrs later I assumed it was me, but fortunately scans show they haven't grown back, so we've a better chance than it could have been.
Same time I think for the collection - I've a calendar with 3 or 4 tracking scans on it, up to the 26 Jan, then the collection should be after that (I remember thinking that the two week wait would take us to Valentines day!)
Wow that must have been hard to hear and process. But so good you found a surgeon who could help!
Even after i got my news, we didnt think for one moment my husband would have problems either. But the hospital ( pre any fertility apointments) suggested it to be sure and so glad we did! Obviouslybwe would have found out anyway rown the line but im glad we did then as it felt we had all the info to make a decision.
Ahh yes of course it may all fall very close to Valentines day!!
Ive woken up feeling very tired and no enegery so wondering if this is down to the injections!? Xx
I started bleeding yesterday so the injections must be working! Feel like theyre hurting more each day though , not sure if im going in on the same area each time!
Also feeling more achy and almoat like i have a fuzzy head!?
I'm doing ok, not feeling much different to be honest. Currently worried that a new lockdown will shut fertility clinics though, really don't want this again ( we had our first clinic appt a week before lockdown#1 so I have a huge deja vu feeling!)
My clinic told me previously they were told they could stay open so hopefully nothing has changed, especially as we have started treatment. Fingers crossed nothing changes for us! What part of the country are you in? Xx
Yes as that was one of my questions previously but 100% said they were allowed to stay open so it should be the same for you! Im in Leicestershire and clinic is nottingham xx
