So I had an ultrasound about 3 months ago which apparently revealed a fatty liver. Then I just recently had an abdominal mri w/ and w/o contrast. This test was perfectly normal. On the remarks for my liver they responded: "Normal. No steatosis. No mass. Normal intrahepatic bile duct" So obviously an mri is far more detailed imaging than an ultrasound and even more so than a ct from my understanding. Does this mean I've turned things around in just a few months? I have been working hard on the diet and no alcohol whatsoever. Still seems strange...

Ultrasound followed up by mri...
Hi Lusitania
Neither test is great for measuring liver fat. The standard MRI gives a much clearer picture but doesn't actually measure it so there is a human element in interpretation., That said, the liver can mobilize liver fat pretty quickly if the diet is good. It sounds like you are on the right track. If you ever want an actual measurement, the best tool is an MRI-PDFF or proton density fat fraction which is highly accurate but absent some other indication your doc may not be willing to order it if you are doing well.
I had just about the same thing happened to me. I did go on a very strict diet no alcohol as well. It’s sometimes just makes you wonder about these pets we take, and the people that interpret them.
“Tests we take”. I will continue on the diet ….. a new way of eating….. for the rest of my life. And I will have yearly fibro scans to ensure that the #’s continue to go down
