Just curious if diet and exercise has worked for anyone?

Wow. That’s truly inspiring and giving me some hope.

Do you know if, with this moderate S2 fatty liver, is it possible to at the very least halt progression by implementing lifestyle changes? I guess I’m asking if it is the diet in and of itself that can stop, slow or start improving it or is it the weight loss that accompanies the new diet?

Thank you!

An S2 without fibrosis is completely reversible. Fibrosis is score F1 - F4 and is called NASH. The S range is NAFLD or fatty liver. It is the combination. If you starve yourself but continue to eat crappy food you can lose weight but it isn't healthy so good nutrition with weight loss and exercise. Like your grandma said, eat your vegetables and go out and play.

It sounds daunting but the diet really works. I was first diagnosed with stage 3 NASH and after a year of eating clean, I’m in totally normal range with no permanent damage to my liver from the last scan. My blood test shows normal readings in all categories. I stopped all sugar, salt, animal fat, processed foods & alcohol. Drastic changes but watching my brother die from NASH was my motivation. Eat to live…don’t live to eat! You’ve got this!

Thank you for that. I think I’ve got this. Just have to learn to mix up the foods better in the name of not getting bored but I’m seeing a nutritionist this week so hopefully she can help me with that aspect. I’ve been scared straight.

When you say stage 3 NASH do you mean full on NASH like the one that can follow fatty liver?

My diagnosis was a through fibroscan which identified NASH, indicating inflammation & fatty accumulation. (Steatohepatitis) I don’t know if there was scarring and have not yet confirmed any permanent damage to the liver, but my numbers have reduced so that I’m no longer in the range of NAFLD. I will continue with annual fibroscans to monitor it.

Hello. so by stage 3 Nash do you mean fibrosis? I have stage 3-4 fibrosis and my fibroscan is 12.8. Looking to see if it can improve

Maybe not everyone can achieve Wayne’s success rate but that looks like a pretty good indicator that in CAN indeed be done. And I love the quotable quote “Like your grandma said, eat your vegetables and go out and play.”

😆👍🏼🫶🏽

yeah. My Dr told me she’s never seen anyone reverse it and she’s about 70. BUT she added that it’s because no one sticks with the liver diet and exercise so Wayne gives me hope that it can in fact be done IF we make it a lifelong change.

I’m in it for the long haul but I’d be happy just to bring it from S2 to S1. I’m hoping I can get there in about a year. Is that realistic?

I went from F3 to F0 in less than a year. 12% loss of total body weight. Strict adherence to diet. No internet sold detox crap. That's all silly. The correct response is stop eating white bread, white rice and beef. Hit the gym 3X a week (but never forget, weight loss is 80% diet, 20% exercise) so don't obsess about the gym. Do obsess about the diet. You have eaten your last BK or McD's.

That’s amazing to hear. So happy for you! I have no problem kissing off all of the garbage forever, just hoping it ultimately helps. I wanted a rescan in 6 months but my dr says minimum 1 year with all the weight I have to lose.

My nutritionist says I’m on point…just need a little tweaking to percentages e.g, healthy fats were taking up most of my calories the last couple of weeks followed by (low glycemic, complex) carbs and (lean) protein. She says it should be carbs around 50% then protein and then fats.

Did you have a biopsy? Just wondering how you know you went from f3 to f0. I am f3-f4 and am hoping this can happen.
