Mine was done about 18 months ago after they found a large embolism in my liver. So far, so good -- as it has significantly reduced the portal hypertension . I was having multiple varacies banded every 4-6 months. The low platelet counts and no white cells remain a constant battle, but they attribute those to the enlarged spleen as much as the liver cirrhosis. My TIPS procedure was done at Mass General in Boston. The doctor and nursing staff were terrific!
