One of the groups most at risk of liver disease is long haul truckers. We have joined with the HTAA to help educate them about health risks

We are working with the Healthy Trucking Association of America, (HTAA) to help educate and support truckers at risk of liver disease. It isn't commonly known that truckers have among the highest rates of diabetes and heart disease of any profession which means they also have a high risk of asymptomatic undiagnosed liver disease. We will be doing a live radio broadcast about liver disease on INTHECAB radio at 4:00 PM CST February 6th. This is internet radio so if you would like to listen click on the link at that time. If you are a country music fan you may like the station even if you aren't a trucker.

Interesting! My dad has driven a semi cross country his entire life. He’s a smoker and suffered a couple mini strokes this year, only in his late 50’s. Maybe I should get him to have his liver checked out.

That would be a good idea. He is in the bullseye for liver disease but it is often without symptoms until it suddenly shows up as cirrhosis

Hi Herman

It might be worth linking him to the information

The lifestyle of the trucker puts them at a high risk for liver disease, but it is mostly without symptoms until it gets quite serious and we have not treatment. As a group, truckers die young and often in a lot of pain because death from liver disease usually takes several years with increasingly difficult symptoms. The best strategy is prevention.

There is a lot of information on the website, but here are several videos that explain things in general terms if that might help.
