My biopsy report says "patchy light chronic hepatitis with minimal activity "

Doss that mean I have hepititus? Minimum activity means Itsnot not severe? Is it curable?

Hi again frogking

Well, we can't pretend to be doctors so I can't really tell you what a diagnosis would be but perhaps I can help you understand so you can talk to your doctor. Hepatitis is a medical way to say inflammation or the tissue is being distressed by something. In your report he says it is patchy, light, and chronic but not active. So you have some damage happening but slowly. The steatosis, or fat is very mild. Those are good. The thing to make sure you talk with your doctor about in the moderate ballooning. That is when the liver cells are large because of material collected in the cell and that causes damage. What you highlighted in the image is of concern but not immediately scary so have a good conversation with your doctor.

Mentions no fibrosis at all so looks like whatever it is I have time to reverse.

So ballooning is what over time causes fibrosis?

He doesn't mention fibrosis which he should if he sees any. That is encouraging and the things he described are not severe which suggests that you should be able to manage it. Ballooning is one kind of damage but not the only one so it is part of the process which often leads to inflammation and fibrosis. The thing to keep in mind is that something took you to a doctor for this evaluation so this information is valuable and as a single data point encouraging but other things can be going on so you do want to get to an understanding of whatever got you to the doctor in the first place.

It is a much better picture than many patients see, but be alert to auto-immune issues for example, and you may be experiencing issues from nearby organs that make you suspect the liver. Diagnosis is often a process of ruling out things to arrive at an explanation.

Had my doctor visit. He said I have a interesting case. She said she's goinf have my liver specimin stained to see if my liver cells ballooning because of stored glycogen which would cause fatigue but said normally blood sugar levels be low. I don't think she really knows either

Hopefully they will do a trichrome stain to highlight fibrosis. That is what best defines the level of structural damage. It is a normal process so it isn't clear why the glycogen emphasis. Probably because of your other blood work. If the pathologist is doing a normal liver series you should get the trichrome without asking.

Probably not since biopsy didn't show a trace of fibrosis. She said stain to see why I'm balooning. She says thinksnl its glycogen because she doesn't think its fat

Well, not having fibrosis is a good thing although if you are ill it just makes a more complicated mystery for diagnosis.

Yes she said today that I am a very unique case. Once they find why I'm ballooning then they can have diagnosis. I'm just goinf keep trying lose weight and hope the pain and fatigue go away.
