Does it surprise you that so many young people have liver disease? Did you know that 30% of the population has liver disease and most don't know it.

No , not at all. It is becoming more apparent to be diagnosed at a younger age now than it was 10yrs ago.

I know there has to be something caused my Cirrhosis at such a young age. i have done these polls in other groups, seen some people diagnosed in their mid to late 20's but never 22-27 years old. Usually they admit to alcohol abuse, or have fatty liver, or genetics. There has to be a cause for someone barely old enough to have a drink legally and with good diet, to develop a completely scarred liver so young.

I am not surprised, as a non alcohol drinker with a healthy diet until my 20’s and again since my 40‘s, I can only assume that approximately 20 years of eating foods with a high sugar content has been the root cause of my nafld/nash.

When I look at my grandson, I fear for his future. When he was at school, it was common place to eat fast foods at lunchtimes and meet friends later for a curry and sugary drinks. Now at Uni, he is not any wiser. He and his friends drive to fast food outlets on a daily basis and will not accept any dietary advice from us oldies.

The marketting industry is in my opinion the culprit. Our children and grandchildren will have no future if something isn’t done now to stop this sugar addiction coupled by some with alcohol use. Liver disease is on the rise but in the UK our NHS is in severe decline, there will be no hope for future generations if we do not expose this potential epidemic.
