The nectar of Gods...after 48H Dry Fast
Why would you do a dry fast? I wrote a summary of types of fasts, and said that dry fasts were only for religious or spiritual purposes. I would be happy to be re-educated! Are there studies about the benefits?
After 48 hours of no fluids? I bet that tasted amazing. I bet tepid tap water would taste pretty good, too!
So dry fast is not much different from water fast, it is just more condensed and you get quicker results. It is also used for healing. In Russia it is used quite a bit. The difference of dry fast is that the body doesn’t use the usual organs to clean up toxins, ex: liver, kidneys, skin. The toxins are stored in the fat, and the fat is burnt within each cell. Your body also start autophagy earlier. Overall is similar to water fast, but it takes away the pressure on the liver. Another benefit is that it tightens your skin. So if your losing weight it helps avoid soggyness. In terms of research it is a bit of a grey area in English. Most of the information is in Russian. Vladimir Leshkovtsev has a book about it, there’s a bad google translation of it online.
Anyways, I’m doing it because I have endometriosis and it is one of the illnesses mentioned in his book. So if I’d like to do a water fast for endo, I’d have to do it for over 30 days so my body would eat the dead cells and proteins. I’ve tried enzymes but I’m not sure it does much. I also need to lose weigh and don’t want the soggyness.
I’ve been doing dry fast. but overall I definitely do not advise anyone to do it, because it is dangerous. There’s a lot of variables like the weather, humidity, temperature, activity levels, your body, etc. In Ramadan is ok because it’s done only during the day. K used to fast like Muslins do. Then start doing long water fasts, so I like to believe that I’m aware of how my body reacts, and if at any point I feel like it is too much I break the dry fast. I try to be aware when is the ego acting up for its achievements and when my body is at its limits.
It is much easier to do a soft dry fast, during a soft dry fast you have have showers, etc. Showers are amazing during a dry fast. Hard dry fast is very challenging because you avoid water altogether.
After the fast the water tasted so amazing that I was giggling like a 4 years old. So awesome. And there was so much gratefulness and appreciation.
