Dairy intolerance advice please...

I have been loving my cream coffees, cream soups, creamy egg dishes and cheese with everything. But - I have suddenly developed the most awful acne and believe that the uplift in dietary dairy is probably to blame. There seems to be an established link between the two. I'm just wondering what it is about cream that causes this? Is lactose-free likely to help? Or goats cream instead of cows? And if it is all dairy - what are my best alternatives? Most plant based cream alternatives seem to be high carb. All thoughts much appreciated - many thanks!

Hi rachelleigh73, it's the fat in milk that when combined with processed foods can disrupt insulin levels and trigger acne as It creates excess oil.

Goats milk is a very interesting alternative as it is much easier to digest as its molecules are the same size as human milk whereas cows milk molecules are 200x bigger so take longer to be absorbed. So even though goats milk contains lactose it is much easier to digest.

Thank you for this Jerry - I'm a bit attached to dairy as key to my success with fasting and low-carb eating. Interestingly - dairy is the only processed foodstuff I'm eating. It would be great if goat's cheese/cream etc were better tolerated - fingers crossed ...

Thanks StillConcerned - can I ask - do you think lactose is the problem when it comes to IGF-1 - or is there some other element to dairy that's causing the problem?

I've been free of all the high GI stuff for a couple of months - but the more I read about the IGF-1 link the more I'm convinced that this is likely to be the problem. I'm now wondering if some types of dairy are better than others - whether goats cheese/milk etc might be lower in IGF-1 for example. Thanks for replying!
