Hi Dawgy,

Great to have you. It's pretty common for an unexpected diagnosis or health test to motivate you take steps to improve your health. The important thing is to use that moment as a positive and then take action - which you are already doing!

For me the key is to get a programme that is tailored to you and your needs, starts gently at a realistic level and gradually increases as you improve. It should also be safe for you if you have any health concerns. Years of prescribing exercise as a physiotherapist has shown me that it doesn't really matter how you complete your exercise, the most important thing that you find an activity that you enjoy and that is simple and motivating to complete. You also don't have to do high intensity exercise to improve your health -> low to moderate works really well.

This is why we developed EXi (previously iPrescribe Exercise) to prescribe each user an exercise plan that is right for them. It gives you options on how to complete your exercise from GPS walking to exercise videos and gym programmes.

Would really love to hear how you are getting on, and as an when there's questions please feel free to reach out.

Good luck, the health benefits of exercising really are amazing, and it really needn't be hard work.

Lewis

Hey,

Good on you for looking to exercise more. I have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes a year ago which was a bit of a shock. I try to keep as active as I can, but have had a few stops and starts, but I think that happens with everyone. I've recently started using this App and like the way it tells me how much to do each week and seems achievable. I mainly do walking, but have tried a couple of the videos. I've done 6 weeks now and definitely feel better for it, especially as I'm a bit worried about coronavirus also. I really hope I can reduce (or even get off!) some medication. Good luck with the exercising - I really think it makes such a big difference.

Ask your Diabetic nurse or doctor to see if there is a diabetic group near you.

Or see if your GP offers GP referral for an Excercise Class held at your local Leisure Centre.

If they do I would advise you to take part. The instructors are usually fully qualified to help and encourage you.

If not try using this app. It really helps
