You need to work upto the maximum dose for their age until you reach watery stools with no lumps consistently for a few days before you start reducing the doses down extremely slowly ie one dose every few days until you reach a suitable maintenance dose to remain on.

on the Eric website it says if your child had the maximum does then do have the maximum maintenance dose which would be 4 for her age. What shall I do? So sorry for all the questions?

I would stick to working upto the maximum dose for their age until you reach watery stools with no lumps consistently for a few days before you start reducing the doses down extremely slowly ie one dose every few days until you reach a suitable maintenance dose to remain on.

when I spoke to the Eric advisor she said you can go straight to max maintenance dose after you reach rusty tea stage. No need to slowly reduce doses. There is a very helpful podcast on disimpaction on the Eric website - suggest you listen to it if you haven’t already.

If you reduce too quickly you run the risk of not knowing what the true maintenance dose should, plus the bowel will just go into spasm. Slowly reducing is by far the best method.

Eric medical experts say differently. I recommend you have a chat with them about it.

Not at all meaning to be rude so please don’t get the wrong idea. Only repeating medical advice we were given. Have a great day too. X

Keep going - you need to reach the stage where it looks like rusty water with no lumps. You’ll know when you see it as it looks very different. We reached that stage on day #10 with our 5 year old.
