4 year old withholding poo

My 4 year old daughter has been withholding poo for the past 3 months, and after calling the helpline I was advised to carry out a disimpaction routine. We did this successfully getting to 1 soft poo a dayand she would happily go on the toilet or on the potty during .

we did 3 sachets of movicol a day as a maintence dose for the past 3 weeks with great success but now we seem to have gone in a backwards direction. She will now sit on the potty and toilet but will keep saying and that the poo is not ready and she will whinge and say the poo is not ready and doing the exact same excuses as she did before we did the disimpaction routine.

do we do the disimpaction routine again?! I have no idea why after 3 weeks of success we have gone back to square ..1. how can i prevent this happening again?

Did you reach watery stools with no lumps consistently for 3 days before you started reducing the doses down extremely slowly ie one sachet every 3 days until you reached a suitable maintenance dose to remain on? I would also add a stimulant to the regime this will help with the withholding.

We did 4 sachets a day for a week after achieving runny brown water with bits, she was pooing 2 or 3 times a day so we reduced to 3 sachets a day for the past 2 weeks and all of a sudden we have hit a brick wall and no poo for 5 days now and she is back to withholding/crying/avoiding. 😫 We are at our wits end and don't know where to turn next. She has had 3ml picolax for the last 2 days

Reverse sycolgy, so make her think she's back on the movicol if thats what she prefers to do. Give her plain drink that she would normally have. Get a toilet routine for after meals. Look at the timez when she wolud normally go. Prunes,figs and blueberries will help.
