Hi my girl has been getting stomach pains for 3-4 days. She has been struggling to poop and when she does manage to poop it comes out in pelets. I know she's got constipation. She is worried about if you can die from it and I really don't know so please tell me if you can or cant. She is 12 and does not want to take laxatives so is there anything else other than laxatives that could help get rid of her constipation. Please help and reply soon before it's too late. Thank you 😩

She needs to treat it and you need to ensure as her parent that it is treated. Ensure she drinks plenty of water during the day, get your Dr to prescribe an osmotic laxative which will help soften the stools so they are easier to pass. Add soluble fibre foods to her diet, such as peaches, pears, kiwi fruits. Tell her that she will not die, but could become extremely unwell if left untreated which is not nice or good for her.
I just wanted to agree with Yaleamanda. Best get it treated to stop future issues, also lots of fresh fruit and vegetables (unpeeled) and lots of water. But most importantly a doctor to treat it properly or you risk the problem getting worse.
Plenty water, Prune juice figs can help. She won't die. Exercise relive her stressing, i agree with yalemanda. She needs to be looking after herself.
As the others have said, first reassure her that this is normal and lots of children of her age suffer with constipation.
A GP can prescribe the correct medicine to help if it’s constipation. There could be a number of things causing it (we originally thought my daughter had constipation but discovered she has coeliac disease)
If it is constipation I can highly recommend you watch the poo nurses video on youtube. It’s really good and helps both child and parent understand what is happening and why the medicine is so important.
