How many laxido sachets do I give after disimpaction process is complete?

Hey, I’m currently on day 5 of disimpaction process with my 3 year old. 6 sachets today and 8 tomorrow and that’s it.

My question is however how many sachets when disimpaction process is complete? So do I gradually go back down or do I cut back down to 2/3 a day?

This is my first time ever trying disimpaction so want to do it right. Any advice would be so appreciated.

Once you have achieved complete disimpaction and reached rusty water looking poo, stay there for 3 consecutive days to ensure that the blockage has gone and then reduce the doses down very very slowly i.e. one sachet every 3 days until you reach a suitable maintenance dose to remain on. You are aiming for type 4 stools on the Bristol stool chart once on the maintenance dose.

Ok so tomorrow is last day of regime with 8 sachets. I don’t fully understand what u mean (sorry this is my first ever attempt at doing this and feel a little out of my depth). When u say stay there for 3 consecutive days do u mean I give 8 sachets for that time also?

Before this he was having 2 sachets every day. So do I cut right back to 1 every 3 days until his stools settle again? Sorry for being so clueless I’m also desperate for advice 😢🙈

You need to get to what looks like rusty water looking poo, once there stay there for 3 days, it will be on the maximum dose of 8 sachets, do not start to reduce the doses until you see the rusty water looking poo. Once there, then you can start to reduce the dose very very slowly by a sachet every 3 days. You may find you need less that 2 sachets or more on the maintenance dose, what it important is that you get type 4 stools, so however many sachets that takes, everyone's maintenance dose will be different. Are you mixing each sachet with the correct amount of water 62.5ml per sachet. This does not count towards to the daily allowance of liquid so they need to be drinking plenty of top of the sachets.

Ok thank you that makes more sense to me. Yea I’m using the correct amount of water to mix sachet and I will encourage more drinking also. Many thanks for ur help 😊

Also may I suggest if you haven’t already make sure you’ve got a decent toilet routine going. About 20 mins after every meal sit them on the toilet and I’ve found blowing things helps (bubbles, party blowers, even just a bottle with one of those straws in it).

Their bowels will be really stretched due to the impaction so you need to build up the muscles again.

Hope that helps.
