Help is this constipation?

Is this constipation? For the last two months my now one year old has been straining to when he then has a poo it’s very loose. Each and every time he strains he has to bend over the coffee table and also the sofa. I can actually hear him clenching his teeth and making struggling sounds. It breaks my heart to see him in such a way. However I don’t approach him as he then stops and after a while will go back to doing exactly true same thing
