My son is 9 years old and since around the age of 4 we have been treating him for Constipation, carried out disimpaction routine and currently using movicol daily and suppositorys, still having some small poo accidents and occasional night time wetting, consultant just keeps assuring me that he will 'grow out of it' absolutely at the end of my tether and feel no help is being given

Our situation may be completely different, and you have to do what’s right for your child, but we too have been on Movicol since the age of 4 (now 8). I recently started to question if the Movicol was actually prolonging the problem. We’ve gradually decreased the amount (now on one sachet a day)and his small accidents have gone. Perhaps a few tiny crumbs once a week now. He is pooing in the toilet regularly (going about 5 times a week). Things are much happier and easier. I wish I’d tried this sooner.
