7 years old with fear of emptying her bowel

I am at loss with my daughter. She never had any problem with constipation before. It all started a month ago when she had an episode of loose and large stools. She became fearful of it, and it has come to the point where she now refuses to empty her bowel. Now 4 days have passed and she is just repeating that she does not dare to release her bowel. I tried today with 2 doses injected in her rectum to soften the bowel, but she plainly refuses to sit on the toilet.

I wanted to know if anyone experienced something like that. Please, could anyone help me? This is purely a phobia, it feels like. Should she see a psychologist?

You need advice from doctors, do not let this become a big problem, she might need something to soften her bowels then to empty them. Just because she has runny poo does not mean that you have sorted the problem out, you need to keep giving her laxatives until the big bits come out. I am no medical expert, so you need advice from the people here, or your doctor. I am just passing on advice that has been given to me from the hospital. She really needs to drink plenty, doctor told me 800ml a day is the lowest amount, my daughter needs over this every day for her bowels to move. My daughter also takes Movicol x2 a day, her bowels are slow at moving. I wish you luck, she needs to have regular bowel movements or her rectum may stretch bigger and then the signals dont work until full. Then she will have large poos, which will have an impact on her life. My daughters rectum has shrunk smaller now, so signals are working again. All the very best, dont let constipation become a problem, my daughters bowels became so clogged up, she nearly dies with sepsis, we never knew she was so compacted. It took 14 months to get all the rotten poo out, it was horrendous. You could try Movicol with Hot chocolate, daily, it hides the taste of the sicky Movicol taste. It works for my daughter.
