Advice needed on 4 year old with potential bowel issues

Hi all,

I’m new on this site and reading other posts I fear I’m at the beginning of a long journey with my son. He is 4 years and 8 months and cannot poo on the loo. We tried a disimpaction regime under the advice of the GP back in Feb in the hope that, if it was constipation, it would clear out his bowel, sensation would return and all would be well. It didn’t work and he continues to have 4-6 poos a day and is still in pull ups. They are soft and normal and I have never been convinced he is constipated. He remains on one sachet of Movicol a day. I recently tried the sweet corn test and the corn came through 48 hours later. This is obviously over the 36-hour limit so perhaps indicates a slight blockage? We are thinking, based on this, we will up his Movicols to 2-3 a day. I am also pushing for a scan of his bowels but we may have to go private as so far the NHS have been pretty slow in helping. Everything is feeling pretty stressful at the moment as he starts school in September. So my questions are... am I missing any tricks I could be doing to help him? Do you think we should do another disimpaction?

Any advice at all would be much appreciated. Thankyou x
