3 year old soiling

My 3 year old has been toilet trained for wee for 6 months now but can’t seem to get him to do poo on toilet or potty. We went through a stage of him being severely constipated and struggling to pass adult sized poo once a week to now doing very soft not quite diarrhoea but not quite formed poo upto twice a day to the point where it’s just easier to shower him if we at home as there’s so much.

My issue is, he either doesn’t acknowledge when he needs to do a poo or is doing a poo until it’s too late or he doesn’t actually know. There are the odd occasions where he is so engrossed in what he’s doing that he forgets he needs a wee and will wet himself for instance.

He doesn’t go at the same time every day either as health visitor suggested putting him on the toilet around the time he normally goes, but it’s different every day and he can become upset hysterical if he feels he has been sat on the toilet or potty for no reason which doesn’t help the situation.

Can anyone offer any advice?

I have exactly the same problem with my three year old. I’m following this thread to see what advice you get because I’m at my wits end! He can go five times a day and each time doesn’t even acknowledge it. It’s almost as if he doesn’t feel it.
