I had implant surgery a year and a half ago, best decision of my life. My strong advise is to get the surgery done by one of the very best surgeons in the country that specializes in implants. I spent two years researching the who, how, where and when before having it done and it made a huge difference. I have a wealth of information that I'm willing to share if you need or want it. The recovery from the surgery is not a lot of fun but I would do it again tomorrow without hesitation.

Thank you Tom0910. I have also been doing some research and would be very grateful for any information you have. Not sure how to share that stuff on a public platform.

Hi tom0910 & Ssport,

I am seriously considering an implant but short on the research and would appreciate any sharing you were willing to do. I had a nerve sparring Radical Prostatectomy in 2021. I’ve had minor success with 5mg daily Cialis, I did start using a penis pump a few weeks out of surgery too, which works ok with a medical grade tension rig. I also have moderate success with Quadmix injections, but there is no consistency, or much comfort with injections and devices. Again, I appreciate what ever you are willing to share.

Good morning Frankenman

I don’t have much in the in the way of research documents but I watch a lot of pod cast and YouTube videos. My next move is to start looking for doctors I plan on talking with multiple doctors and asking a lot of questions. Dr google makes implants look great but its mostly sponsored by implant manufacturers and doctors who promote there product. I would like to talk to men who have had it done. I feel I was misled on a prostatectomy I don’t want to make the same mistake twice. It sounds like you and I are in the same boat. I wish you the best

Thanks so much for your reply! My urologist oncologist who does implants even told me that if I can achieve enough of an erection to have sex to keep going with that. Most of rhetoric I read from implant patients is they wish they had done it sooner, yet my partner even tells me the thought of an implant isn’t overly appealing . . . I get it, but then again to each his own. Best wishes to you on your journey!

I know what you mean about integrating with one's partner's opinion. My wife fears/believes it would feel like "making love to a robot", and frankly, I think I would feel like a robot. For both of us the interaction of observing each other's physical responses (the building bodily stimulation) being in the presence of the other is a critical component of lovemaking.

It just seems to me an implant would break that feedback loop - that the only role my mind is playing is not causative through excitement, but merely making the decision to "press the switch". Just feels like that would greatly diminish the "thrills effect" for me 😞

But, as we all say, "everyone's different" so you may not have this 'problem'.

What are you talking about? Do you have an implant, most likely not. Here are the facts. The average life span of an implant is 5-7 years. When you say "ruined" you are being misleading. The fact is once having implant surgery you can never have a natural erection again but implants are for people that can't get an erection or as in my case a usable erection, meaning a "softy". Yes,depending on one's age one day you might need a "revision" as it's called meaning the equipment being replaced. I hemmed and hawwed for two years barely able to have sex prior to my surgery, I did extensive research during that time, picked one of the best surgeons in the country and everything is fine. It has been a year and seven months since my surgery and it was one of the best decisions of my life.I'm 67 years young and having the time of my life having frequent sex with multiple women. My bionic penis is a godsend to me but to each their own but don't mislead people.

I went 7 years using Tri-Mix injections after my Radical Prostatectomy. These worked well at times, but kept needing to up quantity and strength, and not always working. Was also a bit of hassel, especially if traveling, and definitely interupted flow during sex. Urologist in November of 2023 advised I was a perfect candidate for an Inflatable Implant if I was interested. I said yes, went and spoke with implant doctor, and got the implant in December 2023. So I have had it a year. I am very pleased with the results. I feel more normal and spontaneous than I did with shots. I can tell it is there, but feel good about it. It definitely was worth having it done. I should also say my wife is pleased with it as well. Feels I am more like myself during sex than with shot where I'd disappear in the middle. Now I just work the pumping into our activity and let it slowly rise to the occasion as it did in past. Far as feel for me and her during, seems close to what I was. Can be harder than I used to be if I want it to be. But it always works. Lasts as long as we want (which is better than the real me ever was).

Thank you longlines8. I’m still using Trimix I think we all know what that is like. Would you recommend using that as long I can or would you implant? Also I’m worried about still having the same sensation after an implant. Again I thank you for replying

If you're still comfortable using the TriMix then continue. It eas ok for me, but started having more failures with it working and about of time it worked kept getting shorter. I could have kept going up in strength and quantity. Burning when using was getting worse as well. Once things settle in the feelings are very much same as normal. External stimulus feels exactly same to me. Internal a little different. I do miss feeling of penis slowly inflatting itself. I approximate this by inflatting a few pumps at a time while foreplay etc. I won't say it's exactly the same it's not. But neither was TriMix. For me it really feels more normal. Definitely more convenient and trust worthy. Also more hard than ever was if I want.

Hi. I am thinking to get the inflatable implant but scared from complications of surgery. I hear that it make the pennis shorter ( contracture) and chronic pain / discomfort. Any ideas?

A few comments and advise. First,Some comments about an implant not feeling natural,it's about as natural as any other method to unnaturally cause an erection. With pills your head feels like it's going to explode, injections there are pain concerns, pumps hurt like hell, etc. With an implant once you are fully recovered from the surgery the sensitivity is there,no pain, and you can control how hard you want to be,personally I pump that baby up to the max every time. I'm 67 yrs old and have had sex with at least a dozen women with my bionic penis and no complaints, some I've told what I had and some I didn't,only one woman asked me what the hell was in my ball sack because she felt the pump. Many get a kick out of pumping it up for me,lol. It's definitely a great conversation starter and and a laugh sometimes. I now have a steady girlfriend and she loves it. I will reiterate DO YOUR RESEARCH!!! Go to franktalk.org and read, read, read the forums on who, what and where. Chose one of the four or five top surgeons in the country for your surgery no matter how inconvenient it may be. "My urologist does these surgeries" is NOT a good choice, you want a urologist that ONLY does this. Many urologists will perform the surgery because they get paid big bucks by Medicare and other insurances. My surgeon was Dr. Hacky in Atlanta,I would use him again in a heartbeat. I was living in Florida at the time but went to Atlanta for my surgery and spent three weeks in an extended stay hotel that had a recliner in the room and recovered there,I literally lived in that recliner during that time, got up to get more ice packs,go to the bathroom and retrieve my food deliveries. Strong drugs and ice will be your best friends. Then I flew home and finished my recovery. My first sexual encounter was ten weeks after surgery. I could have had it after eight weeks but chose to wait a little longer. For those that are still in the workforce,I can't imagine returning to work in less than a month but guys do. I would certainl inquire with the doctors that you talk to specifically what they prescribe for pain meds,my doctor gave me the good shit and I am very grateful for that, believe me. It took me two years to pull the trigger because I am very much scared of pain, surgery, needles etc. but am very glad I did the surgery but those first few weeks were not a lot of fun to be honest. Again, everything you need to know about the surgery is at Franktalk.org. read as many journals as possible and take notes on recovery and doctors and the two methods of surgery and the plusses and minuses of both. The doctors at the top of the heap are as follows: Dr Eid in NY, without question the most experienced and one of the best but he is getting up in years. Dr. Perito in Miami probably the busiest and well known but had a shady past,Google it. Dr. Clavell in Houston,I would have used him but his surgery schedule didn't fit mine. Dr. Carrion in Tampa same as Clavell. Dr Cordon in Miami, great surgeon but not good in the communication department so that turned me off. Dr. Hakky checked off all the boxes and I went with him and I am happy that I did. The two methods of surgery are Penilscrotal and infrapubic. There are pluses and minuses to both, penilscrotal the scrotum is where the incision is along the skin fold on your scrotum so there is no visible scar after surgery but recovery is longer. Infapubic an incision is made above your penis so recovery is quiker but you will have a surgical scar which I could care less so that is the method I chose. Most surgeons do one method or the other but Dr. Hakky does both and I made the choice after talking with him. Any questions reach out to me by PM and I will gladly give you my email.

"With pills your head feels like it's going to explode"

I just wanted to comment on this notion, since I've seen sentiments like this repeated over and over and over again in different contexts, references to enormous headaches, etc. from those who try using Sildenafil and/or Tadalafil after a prostatectomy. This is definitely NOT the case for everyone, and I'm proof. I have prescriptions for both 100mg Sil and 20mg Tad (both supposedly "maximum strength") and switch off between using one or the other for a given "lovemaking event". I have never ever had a headache of any kind - in fact, shortly after the prostatectomy, since neither was enough to overcome the nerve damage and I noticed no effect of any kind (including bad side-effects like headaches), I was suspicious they were placebos.

Now they are finally creating a response (after 3 years of post-RP nerve regeneration), but usually not enough to be fully satisfactory. Since I've had no bad side-effects, I've been very tempted to take TWO tablets once just to see if there's a better response. But I haven't because of the warnings from medical specialists.

I may be one of the lucky ones but I never had a headache at all during the several years I was taking the erection pills. I used the injections both before and after myRP destroyed my erection nerves. I never experienced any actual pain. A slight discomfort upon injection but that was. Eventually those began to fail so I had a pump put in. It's not at all uncomfortable. The sexual sensation is not quite the same because the head does not expand but under the circumstances I'm pretty happy. And, like you, I've had sex with several women some notice that some don't. None of them are turned off by it. Under the circumstances I'm pretty content.

Hi everyone. Any idea about combination of urinary incontinence procedure with the penile implant? I have urine comes out when ever I masturbate or when I am trying with my wife ( without any success of errection). I am 59 had the RRP surgery 2017. I hear that the surgeon can put some kind of ring around the urethra to further support and prevent urine comes out during intercource. I believe that your partner do not like it ( urine leaks out).

Any input is appreciated.

Ralph.

Incontinence robotic surgery. I was going through as many as eight depends every day and I was soaking them. I didn't like the idea of having a urinary sphincter control my scrotum so I opted for the sling. Big mistake! Although by a highly renowned surgeon not another 3/4 of an inch of length, it had hardly any effect at all. I had to have the artificial sphincter installed and it works just fine. I still get a little bit of leakage if I exert myself. And I still wear a thin pad for protection but overall I'm pretty happy. I had a penis pump installed and am pleased with it. It's definitely not the same sensation because the head does not expand but it's a whole lot better than nothing. Good luck.

i had a pump installed about two years after my robotic surgery. It is not perfect but far better than nothing.
