Do people tend to stare/snigger/ignore you when having seizure or have you found people helpful?

As a 17 yr old new to epilepsy, i found this hard to come to terms with, people think you are drunk and walk past - that was a long time ago and now awareness is different, more people actually know someone who has epilepsy and will come to help you-this has happened to me on many occassions. These experiences made me aware of how much those around you do care and how easy it is for you to ignore the stares and sniggers, plus, turn it to your advantage--- if your a gal, you can pick up a guy, or vice versa!

..o.k. i'm 34yrs old and was diagnosed when I was 19. i'v found over the many years of clubbing etc to let all your closest friends know whats going on with you and sign's if you have them.. In my case it's more like somebody hitting a light switch.. I am also a type 1 Diabetic on insulin injections so it's a double whammy!! don't let it hold you back from going places or doing thing's, just let people know and keep up with your meds!! don't forget your tablets and enjoy life... you only get one bite of the cherry make it a good one.. Hope you can pick some tips out of all that and hope it's useful in some way.

I have had epilepsy for 39 years now, but gone one year seizure free. When having a Grand Mal seizure in the past, the public have been great, everyone has helped and I am in better care being surrounded by those who care, than those who want to ignore it! Do not be embarrassed! Speak to a friend, tell them the warning signs and go forward! Be positive!
