My daughter was diagnosed with absence seizures 4 years ago / and in the past 4 weeks she’s had 2 TC seizures. She suffers with insomnia and tells me that the only thing that helps her to falls asleep is listening to ASMR. I’m trying to understand if by listening to Asmr is a positive or negative? Does anyone know? I’ve googled it and the things I’ve read are saying negative! I have talked to my daughter about it but she gets so upset and won’t listen to what I’m trying to tell her - ie that it’s not actually letting her brain rest even though she’s asleep. But..Apparently it’s the only thing that helps!!
I think the lamotrogine that she takes is a cause of the insomnia- so I plan to mention it to her doctor.
I’m trying everything- getting her off screens 1 hour before. Black out blinds. She also suffers with urine infections that can trigger a seizure of her temp spikes.
Does anyone use a weighted blanked for their teenager or for themselves? If so, what are your thoughts on them? Good? Or Bad?
Thank you xx

Don't resort to a weighted blanket. She could have a seizure and get smothered. Lamictal can stop you falling asleep. Try a mild sleeping pill, NOT one of the Tomazipams.
Hi Vibrant, ah, ok , I did wonder this re the weighted blanket. Sleeping pills at her age scare me but I’ll look into it and add to my list of things to talk to her Dr about.
Do you know much about the effects of listening to ASMR at bedtime?
I find myself waiting her her to fall asleep from listening to it and me then going in and turning it off ! However, I’m sure she will say she woke up lots because it wasn’t on . 😖
Try anything. Never heard anything positive about that kind of music. Get her into bed at the same time every night and wake her after exactly 7 1/2 hours. Sleep routines are good for all epilepsy sufferers,
