Write a book? I have had epilepsy for fifty years, but nothing like concentrating the mind on a book, as most on this site knows I have been writing a book for 12 years, but reading, writing, researching gets my "stay cool" vote every time! 🤗Although getting it published is another matter altogether🥴Another suggestion by another user on this site 'Hunter' is Qigong, which I am in the learning process of!👍

Thank you what you have suggested is a very good idea and I can see why keeps your mind concertrating on something and makes you probably learn from doing it thank you I appreciate your time hope everything stays well with u

Dear Karla89

It sounds like things have been pretty difficult. How you are feeling is certainly something that other people with epilepsy feel and talk about.

I hope you hear from others on this platform, as sharing information and experiences can be a good idea. If you don’t hear from others in a similar situation, you may wish to try our other services.

We also have our coffee and chat groups (virtual at the moment). Virtual groups are a good way to connect with others who have experiences of epilepsy, in a safe and relaxed environment.

Living with uncontrolled epilepsy is defiantly not easy. Many people find that taking care of their wellbeing can help them. I wonder if you would find the wellbeing section of our website helpful, especially the five ways to wellbeing for everybody.

Places like your local library have information on local clubs and courses.

I find a walk away from busy places relaxing and helps get worries into perspective. Adlon 57s suggestion of writing stuff down is good too. Are there any local support groups?

Same here. I live in the middle of an estate [quite a nice one really!😗] but I always go out for a late night walk, in my big yellow anorack and my brown Boer hat, just a walk around the block, lived here by myself for 18 years, so if anyone sees me late at night "that nutcase at no. 15 out again!" Most people are asleep, maybe a few walking their dogs, but such a simple way of letting off steam😤 started it when I was in isolation, needed to get out, bit of a claustrophobic anyway, but it really cleans out my system!🙃🤗really cool! Maybe a coincidence but have not had a seizure since I started my midnight rambles!👍

Hi Karla,

You could try yoga, I do it at home and use YouTube and follow a woman called Boho Beauty, her sessions are very relaxing and she offers meditation videos as well. I also started acrylic painting recently which is fun, you can use YouTube as well to guide you through painting tutorials. I’ve had epilepsy for almost 4 years now. I have grand mal seizures in my sleep. Since your seizures are bad, I want to tell you about something I recently discovered. My boyfriend bought me an Apple Watch because they recently took me off my anticonvulsants. There’s an app called SeizAlarm that can detect seizures through movement by wearing the watch. It really does work, you get a 2 week free trial and then it’s $14.99 a month but gives you peace of mind in case you have an episode. I hope this can help you and just know you have support and that you can keeping fighting this with others who know what it’s like. CBD would be another great thing to try to help with any stress or anxiety you may feel. I would recommend Lazarus naturals because their cbd is great and comes in high mg and you can get it with no thc if that is a concern. All of these methods have helped me combat my epilepsy. I hope you can find something that can help! Sending positive vibes your way!
