They are back!

Sadly these last 2 weeks I have taken quite a few backward steps.

I'm not sure if it is the stress of corona virus taking over the World atm or that I have let certain worries and concerns build up over time and now they have reached an almighty high along with my worry about the virus.

I continue to work so do feel I am at risk every single day that I am there and I worry about bringing it home to the family.

Now my seizures are back and I am also having Absence seizures too which is very concerning due to the fact I work in retail and have to have constant contact with the public whilst serving them at the check outs.

I'm starting to feel very depressed and I have noone to talk too openly.....

oh well hopefully they will calm down soon.

Hi

Thank you for your message. This is such a difficult and worrying time, especially for people like yourself who are still going out to work.

We have some information on our website about epilepsy and coronavirus which you may find useful.

epilepsy.org.uk/info/daily-...

If it feels possible, it may be a good idea to speak to your manager about how you’re feeling and the impact it’s having on your seizures. Perhaps there are things they could do to support you?

Our information on wellbeing may also be helpful. And you can find information about looking after your wellbeing and coping with anxiety related to coronavirus from Mind and Anxiety UK.

Many people find it helpful to talk to, or contact, others who understand what is happening to them. I hope you hear from other people on this platform. But I also wanted to let you know about our forum4e online community, and our Facebook and Twitter pages.

I’m sorry to hear that you are going through this.

I have also been in a similar situation. Experiencing a lot more seizures lately due to stress and the whole anxiety of everything building up. I feel like I can’t talk to my friends or family as they don’t fully understand seizures and my condition. I am still working as a cleaner, which I think sometimes the chemicals/cleaning products can trigger seizures even more (especially when it’s a hot day). Too much coffee and screen time + lack of sleep definitely aggravates mine more as well.

I know how frustrating it is and constantly feeling exhausted from it all.

I hope that you manage to cope and keep them under control a little. Find some time for yourself and try to do something nice and relaxing.

Same here, and also for people without epilepsy, who have not experienced this sort of stress before. Mental health is now being taken seriously with so many people affected by this horrible situation.

I hope you are more protected now at the check-out.

Set aside some time for yourself, maybe practice some mindfulness, I find this helps to relax and calm down a bit.

Brain training games can be a distraction.

If you need coffee, make sure it is decaf.

You must know about the other things to avoid:

chocolate, bright lights, sudden movements, flashing screens, etc.
